Dumb Question....

What does calling day by day mean? Does it mean if you can't book your entire trip in the category room you want or with the view you want, does it mean getting a day here and a day there on your ressie by calling back every day to see if anything has opened up?

Followed by another dumb question... Can you make a reservation, then wait list for another one that you would rather have, like at a different resort?

We are not in DVC yet but are planning to buy a small resale and I am trying to learn as much as possible from the very experienced and helpful DisBoarders. You guys and gals all rock!!!

It means that instead of waiting and calling exactly 11 months or 7 months from the last day of your trip, members call day by day exactly 11 months or 7 months to that particular day.

Personally I never do that, mainly because if all my days are not available then I see no advantage. I know I could wait list one day but if it is in the middle, no way am going with a gap in my stay.

I can see maybe for a Grand Villa it might be necessary.

For example if your stay was for August 1-6 instead of waiting and calling at 11 or 7 months from August 6 when you could book the entire stay if available, you would call for August 1, then August 2, etc.

and yes you can book what is available and wait list for something else.

Thank you Sammie. I wasn't exactly sure of when you would begin to call being 11 months out so knowing that it is eleven months from the last day you check out is very helpful. I would certainly like to have all my days at one time too. If I couldn't get them at my home resort on my first try, would I just take the days they could give me and waitlist for the rest? Or, just try again at the 7th month window at another resort? Can you be on two waitlists? Probably not as this would tie up the system.

How long can you be on the waitlist?
