Dumb Question on Special Offers

Okay- I have a dumb question.

In the past we have usually booked our resort reservations a month or so in advance when the Florida resident special offers are announced. The problem with this is often we end up setteling for our 2nd or 3rd choice in a resort as many are booked solid. If I make reservations now for our anniversary trip in September for the full rate- what happens if a special offer is announced at a later date that I would qualify for - eg. resident or passholder? Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

Well I called Disney and got my question answered.

According to the CM- in this situation if there are available rooms at the resort when you call (after the special is announced) then you can participate in the special offer. If the resort and/or room type you have is unavailable at that time then you would not be able to participate in the special offer. Makes sense to me.

If anyone else has any insight on this process please share it also- Thanks!

Many people - me included will book the room they want well in advance - even if it is at rack rate. We then pay attention to the codes as they are released by checking these boards and /or watching at http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-current.htm#hm-currdiscounts-right

As soon as a code is released for our dates we call and hope to be able to apply the code to our existing reservation. If we cannot because our room type or resort is not available we may check other room types or resorts to see if the discount is available.

I've booked "room only" ressies ahead before (room only so I got the 5 day prior = no cancellation charges policy), and then called as soon as I saw a FL Res deal announced and asked if it was available to apply to my res.

Since I always called as soon as I saw the offer, the hotel was available and they just applied the offer and credited my credit card back for the difference with no problem. I would just be sure and try and get any deal that comes up fairly quickly either way so you have a better chance of getting what you want. :goodvibes

regarding codes, etc, i get it about the publicly released codes, but please enlighten me as to how some people get 'postcards' with codes on them. what are they?
many thanks!!!

Postcard and E-mail Codes

For the past several years, Disney has regularly sent out masses of postcards (and more recently, e-mails) that offer deeply discounted Walt Disney World resort rates to the recipients. I can't publish those discounts, because Disney uses a PIN number system so that only the recipient can use the code. (When you call in with your PIN number, they match your name and address to it. You can't share the PIN with anyone else.)

How do you get on the lists for these special postcards and e-mails? No one knows exactly, and believe me, I've done a lot of research on it. It appears that Disney's marketing department uses a variety of lists at different times.

If you want to have the best possible chance of getting these mailings, it's definitely a good idea to register with Disney.com and be sure to click on the boxes that indicate you're interested in Walt Disney World. You might also want to go to DisneyWorld.com and request a vacation planning video. It also appears that they may use mailing lists from DisneyShopping.com, subscribers to Disney publications and Disney's Visa card members. In short, sign up for anything Disney (especially Disney World related) you can, and keep your fingers crossed!

If you are a repeat resort guest and have already subscribed to a lot of Disney lists, it's possible you have received a discount e-mail but it went into your "spam" folder or was filtered out as junk mail by your e-mail provider. However, if you are in the Disney reservations system, the discount information should be associated with your name. For that reason, when you call the Disney Reservations Center to make room reservations, it's worthwhile to make a polite inquiry. You might say something like "Would you mind checking to see if I am on the list for any room discounts? I'm afraid I may have missed a promotional e-mail." Don't bother calling about this if you have never stayed on Disney property before -- you almost certainly won't be in the system.

Even if you pay for your trip and a code or special comes out, you can still apply it :) That has happened on all 3 of our trips so far. The first was free dining promo that came out in 05, last year it was the Visa code that was later released to the general public, this year the 40%. Visa code was the trip we had already paid for. I called and applied it and Disney refunded my account over $600! So book now what you want, and watch for codes & promos!

Good~Luck:goodvibes

I just got this and there is no mention of a general code of 40%. As a matter of fact there were no general codes at all right now! ..It is only for people with a pin/code..What is all this discussion of people without the codes or pins getting it? :confused3
