OK - we are not sure if we are going to buy APs or just regular tickets for our August trip.

Can you make FPs without buying tickets tickets??

When can you start making FPs?? 60 days??

Like I said - dumb questions.....

Thanks

If you're undecided, I've heard that a lot of people buy regular passes, use them one day and then upgrade to APs in the park. That way you can make your FPPs at 60 or 30 days and then upgrade if you see fit later. Somehow this saves people money but I've never done it so I don't know the specifics.

You can use this proceedure by buying discounted regular passes from a reseller like Undercover Tourist. This saves ~$20/ticket.
Using the ticket at least once allows the ticket to be "bridged" to full price before the AP upgrade.
This way also helps if you do not have the $ for the AP right now.

Buy tickets and use them. If at some point during the trip you decide you do want the AP then upgrade. Undercover tourist is a good authorized ticket broker where we have gotten tickets for years. Mousesavers has a monthly newsletter and will have a link to receive even a bit more discount from Undercover. Nothing to be lost in buying the tickets now and making your FP reservations even if you decide to upgrade to an AP. But without any ticket media you can't get the FP.

Thanks for the info. That is what I though but it has been a few years since we have been there.

Thanks

I have an AP and the biggest difference I have noticed is that you can't take advantage of the ticket/room packages or the free dining plan if offered. Although if you are staying for more than 9-10 days then the AP is worth it and you can try to get a discount on the room rate only.
