Dumb Question about PS

I see the term "PS" = Priority Seating being used a lot for restaurants at DLR & for Character Meals, etc. So I'm assuming a PS is the same as making a reservation. They hold you a table, right?

But is there something more to it than just an actual reserved table? Is there some VIP treatment that goes w/PS?

Reason I ask, is because I've also seen people use the term "PS" when referring to seating at certain attractions. Now, I didn't think you could hold a "reservation" for special seating (like front row) at an attraction (or can you?). And if so....how? Does it come w/AP holder benefits only or something like that?

A PS is not a reservation. What it means is that after you show up and check in you will get the first table available that matches your party size. So they don't hold a table for you but you are guaranteed to get a table, versus if you just walk up you may have to wait awhile or may get no table at all.

The only reserved seating that I know about for attractions or parades comes with AAA vacation package or by booking a tour at Disneyland.

Yup - seating for shows is the package - VIP seating or priority seating. Technically in their computers a table is held for you in PS at the restaurants - so it's a reservation so to speak. You are their priority person to seat. All priority people go first, the people who didn't call ahead are seated AFTER those people who have arrived have been seated and tables are temporarily held for those who have PS. But you're also supposed to check-in 10 minutes before your reserved time.

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

We are going at end of June, and I called to make a "reservation/PS" at Goofy's Kitchen on the 1st day that I could once my 60-day-window opened up. The lady on the phone called it a reservation. But just to clarify, when we show up at our designated meal time, it really just means than they have us in the system as "expecting us" & even though they won't necessarily have an empty table waiting for our arrival, we will be seated prior to anyone else who may have just "walked-in" at the same time?

Fantastic Suz! Where did you make reservations at - just Goofy's?

Exactly right!
Thank you! Totally makes sense now too!

Yes, as of right now, just Goofy's for a breakfast meal. :goodvibes We are going to be at GCH for 3 days (but will only be there for 2 breakfasts - flying in the 1st day early, but will arrive after breakfast). I am tempted to make a 2nd reservation for another CM breakfast, (was thinking about the Princess' CM - Ariel's Grotto - I think) but since we usually like to be fairly spontaneous (coupled w/the fact that I've heard iffy things about how well Ariel's compares to Goofy's), I figured we'd go w/Goofy's for the 1st CM and then play it by ear after that.
