Dumb question about OBB OBC

When you book on-board and get some OBC for doing so, is it OBC for your *current cruise* or your future cruise?

For other lines, in case you're looking further afield, it can be different. Royal started a program a few months ago where you can choose where the OBC goes. If it goes onto your current cruise, though, if you cancel the cruise you booked you don't get the deposit back (the OBC is in the amount of the deposit).

This is what confused me yes--I'm just off the NCL Getaway and the wording of their OBB offer seemed to imply you got the OBC during the current cruise.
