Newcomer, trying to learn how to use the boards still and although I'm experienced at the parks, I've always been a day guest in the past (folks live in Orlando). Now my MIL wants to take the whole tribe down from MA to The World and has decided she wants to stay at the Poly. I told her it was expensive, and we will have 8-10 people in our party so we'd need more than one room, but she was undeterred!
So now I need to know: two standard rooms will do it, right? I found information saying up to 5 could stay in a room...but other information saying 4? Can you get both an AP AND a AAA discount? We will have both so if you could combine that would be amazing! I just remember that my grandparents always got a senior discount PLUS their AAA at various hotels, but I do realize this is Disney so I'm not holding my breath! They gotta make their money!
How are the laundry facilities there? We have a baby so not doing laundry for a week is just not an option. How about entertainment for "unsupervised" teenage boys? MIL has 4 of them and although they are well-behaved, she is worried about safety (which I assured her was not an issue) and complaints (which I'm not so sure about) if they were to be out in the evening unsupervised. Anyone ever been to the character breakfast? MIL loves Chip and Dale so if they are always at the breakfast, we would certainly have to do that! How are the pools in late November? Too cold?Any and all tips on the Polynesian would be appreciated. This might be the only "big" trip to WDW MIL ever makes, and she wants to make it very special.
One last thing...what do you think would be the best way to book this? If she is getting the AAA discount will she need to do it through AAA? I feel confident doing it all myself, but I know she wouldn't, so if there's any advantage to doing it ourselves, I'll handle it. If not, and we could get an even better deal buying a package through AAA or somewhere else, she would prefer that. TIA!
