I've never had a passport before. Will I need a marriage certificate to apply? I've looked at the website, but it's about as clear as mud to me. :confused3

No, I didn't need a marriage certificate when I applied for mine last month. Just my birth certificate and Driver's License. :)

Thank goodness, because I did a bit more poking around, and it appears that my marriage certificate isn't registered where I thought it was!
:p

Not a dumb question at all. I brought mine with two when I applied and they said they didn't need it.

Just an FYI, I applied March 15th and got my passport in the mail today.

I applied on Friday. The lady at the post off ice said because my name was different on my birth certificate(maiden name) than on my driver's license I had to bring it in. I went home and called the passport agency and he too said I had to have it. AHHHH! I spent two hours looking for it and could only find my marriage certificate. I called back and the passport agency said that was fine if I could find three or more documents that were at least five years old with my married name on it ( pay stub, W-2, utility bill etc.) What a pain. :confused3

I hope you don't have to have it. It's seems it changes depending on who you talk to.

Good Luck

We just needed Drivers license and birth cert at the Post Office when we went last Thursday.

We, too, went with our marriage certificate just in case....it was NOT required because we have been married for more than a year...and that my driver's licence was in my married name. That is what it depends upon, according to the Postal guy. :flower:

Oh, well, time married wouldn't be a problem for us--we're going on fifteen years. :)

I'm going to have a difficult enough time getting a new copy of my hubby's birth certificate without trying to get a new marriage certificate, too!
