Ok, I admit this is a dumb thing to complain about, however, here I go. Has anyone bought the large bottle of All detergent? You know, the one that is supposed to stay on its side with a little spout and looks like this?

So I have to leave it over the sink which is now full of detergent. Everytime you use the cup, then put it back on, it spills and splatters detergent everyone. So annoying! Thats all, thanks for listening.

I don't put the cap back on those types of containers for that very reason.

I've used two other types of detergent with that design, and I just don't put the cup back on. Never had a problem!

I just rinse the cup out in the stream of water filling the washer and then sit the cup next to the container. I never put it back on. I've used it for years and it's never leaked. :confused3

Yeah, I have bought that kind and others like it. I rinse the cap out and just set it on top of my dryer. Avoids the mess til the end when there isn't enough to come out the spout and you have to tip the big bottle to get enough to come out or take off the top cap and pour that big bottle into the cup which can make a mess.

I have to laugh. I remember the kind of detergent my mom used. It was powder (Ajax brand) and it came in a box about the size of a medium sized cereal box. She used that for years and years. Now its all this ultra, concentrated, liquid stuff that makes a mess. My mom poured that junk out of the box (she'd take her thumb and jam it on the top to make it open) into a beat up old measuring cup. Even with that system, it never made anywhere near the mess these new gigantic tubs of liquid goo make. Just strikes me as funny as to how these newly invented inventions aren't any better than what our moms and grandmas used!

You're supposed to put the cup back on???

LOL I guess I learned something...you're apparently NOT supposed to put the cap back on. I'm so used to doing that with the smaller bottles, didn't really think to leave it off.

I think it is meant to sit on your washer not really measured but put directly into you soap drawer because there are makings in there. That is if you have a front loader.

Having said that ,I couldn't do that because when it spins the thing would fly off.....:lmao:

I rinse the cap out with the water that's filling the machine. When it's good and rinsed (I usually have to run my fingers around the inside of the cap and swirl the water around for a bit) I pop it right back on the bottle. Been doing that for a few years now and haven't had any gooey drips yet.

Now I can see there being a problem with front loading washers since the water isn't accessible as it's being pumped in.

I never put the cap back on either, it has always been too difficult to get it off again since they tend to have a bit of a snap involved. I never though about it leaking but it makes sense. Good to know.

Funny you should mention that. Who would have thought that the huge thing of tide that hadn't been opened would be thrown off. OMG, I thought I would never get it cleaned up. used every towel I had. It was right before our Disney Cruise with just hubby and I. I had to go to the laundry mat to get all of my towels clean.

.

I do the same thing and have never had any problems...:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I also rinse the cup in the running water in my washer. I do put the cap back on & have no trouble at all with leakage

I just throw the cap in the machine with each load. It comes out nice and clean and ready to go for the next one!

Be careful with cheaper detergents that come in those bottles. The spout itself will leak. Ended up with a very slippery laundry room floor that way! That was my lesson NOT to buy cheap laundry detergent.

I just leave the cap off.....LOL I rinse it in the washer after using it and then just put the cap next to the bottle on the shelf. I put a paper towel on the dryer under the spout, it catches anything that might drip.
