Sorry if these have been asked and answered before, but I couldn't think of search terms that wouldn't pull up a million threads.
  1. Are formal and semi-formal nights always on your Lumiere's nights, or are they fixed nights no matter where you're dining? If they are fixed nights, are they always the same nights on the cruise? Which nights?
  2. Can you request the rotation you would prefer? How far in advance?
  3. How air conditioned are the restaurants?

Thanks in advance.

They are fixed nights on each western/eastern itinerary.

All three dining rooms serve the same menu on each night..so doesn't matter which restaurant you are in for any of the nights.

We didn't find the restaurants to cool if that is what you mean and I usually have a sleeveless top on. Some nights they were downright warm.

You find out your rotation when you get your KTTW card at check in & if you feel that you would like a different rotation can go to dining changes & put in your request.

A lot of people make a big deal about having formal night in the formal restaurant. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. For thirty seconds you look around and think "formal dresses, Parrot Cay, odd." I have other things to obsess about.

Exactly!!! Last year when we boarded we had APL for the Western. This is the "desired" rotation since both nights are in Lumiere's. I went to dining to request our favorite server & was told that they could do that but we would lose our rotation & switch to PLA. I just shrugged & said that didn't matter...and it really didn't. Give me a wonderful server & great tablemates and it doesn't matter what dining room I am in on a certain day. :)

My actual concern as far as rotation goes is not wanting to miss the Animators Palette show, which I understand is only done the first night, if that was the night we were in Key West.

Are the menus really the same in all three restaurants each night? I thought they were themed to the restaurant except for the theme nights.

At the end of 7 days, you will have had all the menus, no matter which rotation you are on. Each restaurant has a signature menu. You will have that menu on that restaurant's night. Then there are the themed menus which are served in all 3 restaurants on the themed nights.

The restaurants are sometimes a little cool in sleeveless things...I'm usually comfortable, but it's a good idea to keep a sweater in your suitcase just in case.

Officially, you can only request a rotation if you are in a concierge level cabin. However, you can call DCL and make a request--no promise that you will get it. In addition, you can put in a request at "dining changes" if you are unhappy with what you have.

I agree that people get way too worked up about their rotation. I, too, request my favorite server regardless of his rotation. Of course, if I happen to get my server on the rotation with mostly adults/older kids, I'm very happy.

As to Lumiere's on formal night....don't sweat the small stuff.

For the first three nights each dining room has it's own menu. Starting with the fourth night, the menus are all the same, (Around the world, Captain's Gala, Pirate night, etc.)

You could request a change of rotation upon embarkation at guest services if there's a certain night you don't want to miss. :earsgirl:

And you hope he is on the Palo Only "rotation" - that way you get to eat there every night;)
