This Novemeber will be the first time I'll be flying since 9/11.

Well...here comes my dumb question.....

With all the new security measures are you still allowed to lock your checked luggage?

I don't recommend the TSA locks. If you need to secure the zipper pulls so the suitcase doesn't come open use bread ties or the plastic cable ties you can buy at Home Depot, etc.

If they can't open the TSA lock they will rip it off and damage your suitcase. You can always pack a pair of finger nail clippers in an outside pocket of your suitcase when you get there.

Don't pack anything valuable in your suitcase if you want to see it again.

I just use the bread ties so that the zipper does not come open. TSA did open my luggage on my last flight (behind the scenes, not in my presence, I got the letter inside).

I dont trust the TSA to do anything right.
Use to be TSA Stood for "Thousands standing around", now its a more reasonable "Twenty standing around".

They really have dont anything to make travel any safer. Honestly I prefered the National Guard guys with the M16's at the checkpoints.

We didnt lock our luggage. They broke the zipper on my bag and also swiped some stuff out of it. This happened in 2003 and they still have yet to fix the problem after countless calls/emails and letters.

I used the bread ties.. (It was my first time flying after 9/11 too.) On the way down they did in fact go through my luggage (found the letter inside) but they also put the bread ties back on..

Coming home there was no letter so I'm assuming they didn't open it again..
