Trying to decide on home resort, what are the current dues for each?

I'm never able to plan 11 months in advance, so the home resort is not that important to me. Is the home resort good for anything else? Otherwise I'll go for the cheapest dues.

There isn't a heckva lot of difference in the dues. For 2001 the rates are:

OKW - $3.13
HHI - $3.32
WLV - $3.63
BWV - $3.83
Vero - $3.97

OKW and BWV are available through re-sale.

OKW has the lowest dues but that should not be a deciding factor. Buy where you plan to stay the most. The 11 to 7 month window is very important. All DVC resorts are available as resales. Only WLV, HH and VB are available from DVC.

Welcome to the boards. Just a little clarification. The figures given for dues above are per point per year and minimum purchase is 150 points. The 11 month window can be important for particular times of year and more so for particular resorts. For example, many times of year BWV is booked up before you even hit the 7 month window; likewise Hilton Head in summer is difficult to get with the 7 month window. You will see that most advise that you buy where you plan to stay most so you can take advantage of the 11 month window.

DVC is best for those people that can plan ahead. Some people get lucky with making reservations close to when they want to go - say 1-3 months out. However, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to get what you want at that time.

Also, dues can change every year. So, the place that is the cheapest now, may not be the cheapest 5 or 10 years from now.
