Hi! When the dues statement comes in January, and I have a June UY, are the dues for the previous or current year?

I'm curious about the expiration year. Will I pay dues in 2057 when it expires in Jan?

Will we still have dues for 2057 when it expires Jan 31, 2057?

The end is a big question, but there actually won't be any 2057 points since it expires Jan 31st so it would be mighty hard to send out a bill and expect to collect. ;) I'd think that the 2056 dues will be calculated at 100% for all UY's though.

If you go by how Disney calculates the dues you owe when you purchase directly then it seems to indicate that for your June UY you are paying for Jan-May of this UY and June-Dec of the next UY.

I probably won't know how it turns out for AKV end date but hopefully will see what happens in 2042 unless they figure out an extension for all the resorts that end then.

Dues are based on calendar year. The dues you pay in January 2016 contribute to the funds needed to operate the resort for 2016: paying the staff, maintaining the property, paying the property taxes, utilities, insurance, etc.

As KAT said, Disney also looks at how your calendar year and Use Year overlap. Calendar year 2016 coincides with the last 5 months of your June 2015 UY and the first 7 months of your June 2016 UY. So the dues you pay in 2016 are paying for 5/12ths of your June 2015 points and 7/12ths of your June 2016 points.

The dues you pay in 2056 will include 5/12ths of your June 2055 UY and 7/12ths of your June 2056 UY, and perhaps they will also include in that final bill the fees for the last month (Jan 1-31 2057) of your contract. The interesting question is, will you get a full set of June 2056 points or will they pro-rate the points in that last year and give you only what you paid for, either 7/12ths or 8/12ths of your annual points depending on whether they charge dues for Jan 1-31, 2057.

In 2041, if not a year or two earlier, we should learn how Disney plans to handle things when the 2042 resorts (OKW, BWV, etc.) are getting close to their expiration date (Jan 31, 2042).

By then DVC and Disney parks will be sold off to the Chinese investors so who knows what will happen.
