Has anyone received a bill for next years dues yet? Just wondering, because I thought I'd already gotten the bill by this time last year. Sorry if this has been already asked and answered. Thanks for any info

I don't think they mail them out until January. I used to have them deducted from checking acct. monthly, but decided to pay once a year in Jan. Because I can put it on my credit card and get bonus miles, like I do for everything else. MS will not allow a debit to credit card every month. They will only do that once a year.
We usually can fly for free 1-2 times a year just by putting everything(bills, groceries, gas, utilities, taxes, etc) on our Continental Card. By doing this all our trips to DVC only cost us for food and entertainment. Since our membership (300)is paid in full already. But you can't go overboard and stay within reason of your individual budget.

No dues bill yet. It usually seems to arrive about the same time as the IRS forms....any day now. Just a Merry Christmas from DVC and the IRS ;)

Ncligs -- Are you saying that the dues can be put on a charge card? As you say, that would be good for mileage.

PamOKw, yes, they will put your yearly dues, only on a credit card in Jan or Feb,by paying it in full, whenever it is due.And whatever airline credit card you have, it counts the same as actually flying. People would be surprised how many free airline tx you would accumulate over the years. We put everything on our credit card and when we get the bill, pay it in full so you don't have to pay the intrest. Our theory is anything over $10 we put on our Continental credit card.

Same here. I charge most everything to either my Southwest Visa card or my Drivers Edge Mastercard. Drivers edge gives credit towards vehicle purchases.

DVC-Don, We have a GM credit card also, that goes towards a vehicle purchase. But they have a maximum limit of $500 per year credit toward a car. So thats why we max out on that first every year and then switch over to our Continental Card, which has no limit, or a very high one (around $80,000 per yr.) We have been doing this for about 3 years now, and we wished we would have started about 10 yrs ago.:bounce:

We have not received our bill yet either in NY. I did not know that we could pay our main./annual dues on our credit card. I too am trying to charge on my card for mileage. Do I call DVC when I get the bill? Is their number on bill or do I call member serivce? Are they all one and the same? Sorry for all the questions. I am hoping to someday down the line to get either a free airline ticket (if I choose to fly) or a night or two free at Fairfield/Marriott or Hyatt. We shall see.

AnnaS, All you have to do is call MS, and they will connect you to accounting. Just tell them of your intentions, and they will take care of it over the phone. They will send your yearly dues statement to your home in Jan. Then you can either send it back with your credit card, or call them and give them your credit card no. over the phone. It can't be deducted monthly though, it has to be the full amt for the year.:)

Ability to use a credit card for annual dues must represent a change in DVC policy. When I inquired about payment in full with a CC years ago, I was told that dues could NOT be charged.

I put my entire DVC purchase on my AOL Visa credit card and got 6 or 7 months free AOL. DVC split the charge into 2 months so I would not go over my limit and I paid it off as soon as the bill came (I got the money through savings & a 401K loan).

DebbieB, we did the same thing when we added on 70pts at OKW, and paid it off when we got the credit card bill. But you would get more for your money with an airline credit card or Gm Card.

I have always paid dues with a credit card each January- beginning with Jan. '94.

This year I will use the auto debit program and spread the payment over 12 months without interest. However, if you want to use a CC for FF miles or payment credit, some credit cards are accepted.

We use our AMEX the same way! With the member rewards we get quite a few airline tickets a year or they can be redeemed for all sorts of goodies. I recently purchased a new car using it! By using it, I was able to keep the $$ in my account for an addition 30 days accruing interest and my family will be flying for free for the remaining trips for '02. :D

I am scheduled for the automatic payment but I think I will also pay it in full when the bill comes. It is great to have the option either way. If I recall correctly, MS will also allow you to make additional principle payments with CC.

Thanks everyone - we also pult our 200 pts purchase on our CC and had them do it in two months not to go over the limit (got idea from this board :) . We paid it in full of course when the bill came. I chose to pay my dues in one payment - so if I can charge it - and get extra mileage, this is what I will do.:) If we do make an add-on, we will be doing the same thing.

If I am on monthly debit, will they take the money out at the beginning of January 2002 - even though we have not received the bill? I seem to remember the first deduction around the middle of the month.

I would love to pay the whole thing by credit card and add to those FF miles! Thanks for the information!

Kelly

Kelly & John, If you are currently on the monthly debit(checking acct), you have to call MS and tell them to stop it, and inform them of your decision to pay on a credit card in full, in Jan.
I would call them first thing wed. morning if I were you.:)

What a great tip ncligs. Thanks!

I have my monthly debit setup for the first of the month but they do take the January payment on the 15th I guess because they don't have it ready by the first.

I paid my dues bill at the end of December last year. We should get the bills just after Christmas!!

I've got the best of both worlds! My debit card purchases give me ff miles. Only 1 mile per $2 spent but at least it is something. So I pay my dues through my checking account and get some ff miles.
