DU and DCL gave same price, I'm comfused

I just received my quote form DU and it is the same price as DCL down to the penny. With the exception of the $50 rebate it really is no different. I have found the same cabin around $200 less at other travel sites. Can anyone tell me if I have entered something incorrectly? It is for the Sept. 12-16th cruise later this year. Help!

You would need to tell us what the exact date is, the number of people, and what category stateroom you booked for (Also if using DCL Air, what city you are flying from).We would also need to know what DU quoted you. You probably are keying in everything right if the prices are fairly close. - Mike

I had the exact same experience when I was booking our June 10th cruise. DU's quote didn't include transfers or insurance and once I took those two things out of the DCL quote, it came out exactly the same. I also got a quote from Costco when I was looking around and what she quoted me was MORE than DCL. I have a feeling that she didn't know what she was talking about though. I kept asking her a bunch of questions, but she kept insisting that she was quoting me the correct price.

The first several years of DCL operations, everytime I tried getting a price thru a TA, I always got the same price quote I would get through DCL, so I just always booked directly through DCL (that way, I could always pick my room number).

I did find that DU was the same as DCL on my two cruises. The only difference being rebates and shipboard credits.

Those two things totalled a savings of $550 for two staterooms on my upcoming cruise. If you book during one of DU's promotions, it's wonderful.

When I was booking for our cruise last November I had the same thing happen with All Seasons. It was even more confusing because I called to get a quote and he put me on hold, called DCL and gave me the exact same quote that I got online from DCL. I was very confused. I find it's just easier to go through DCL directly, avoid the middle man.

I agree, when I called DU and Allseas they both quoted the same as DCL to the penny, with the exception of DU offering a $75 room credit. I choose to stick with DCL again, it is more convievient for me to be able to deal directly with them, I dont have to wait for someone to email me back when I have a ? and they send your docs directly to you.

Just a quick add on comment, Dreams Unlimited does not send you your documents. They will come directly from DCL. I got mine about 3 weeks before our trip.

I have used DU since my 2nd DCL cruise. The main reason I do this is because when DCL offers a promotion that will lower my room DU does it automatically. Disney will not unless you call directly and ask by specfic name. This has helped me 3 out of 4 cruises and once when something was offered, I had paid in full. DU sent me a check. I have saved $$ by booking through DU even though it doesn't look like it when you first book.

EXACTLY. Just because the quotes are the same right now doesn't mean they'll stay the same thru time towards the cruise.

DCL will not apply any promotional discounts without you keeping track of when one appears and calling DCL and applying it yourself. Once you pay, that's what you're going to pay.

DU and some of the other TA's will apply those discounts to already booked travel when they are notified of their existance. Whenever we travel with Disney on cash it is always thru DU. They have never failed to impress me with staying on top of such things.

DCL not automaticaly giving you any discounts doesnt really apply to me since I check the price on the DCL website daily. I'm curious about when and how much the price goes up.

DU was $800 less than DCL and $100 less than All Seas for our 10/02 cruise, booked about a month ago. However, when we booked our 9/25 in 2003, DU was exactly the same as DCL, minus the rebate (which we would have gotten using our Disney Visa booking thru DCL). The thing that locked us into DU for that cruise was the stateroom gift, which has since ceased. Bummer!

It seems that alot depends on how far you book out, etc.

thats weird because the deal that i got from them was almost $350 cheaper than dcl...im sure it goes by when you are traveling.

That was what made us decide to go with DU was actually the stateroom gift since the prices were about the same...I am still hoping there is a stateroom gift there when we board.....We plan on cruising again the next May and may check out All Seasons since everyone raves about them.
