We really want to spend some time shopping at DTD when we go Thanksgiving week? When's the best time to avoid crowds shopping there? On weekends and evenings, do the locals all come out in droves? How about on Thanksgiving day itself? The parks are packed, so we were thinking of going to DTD instead, during the day, since we're hoping everyone's in the parks. Are the stores all open? Is that a big day for the locals? What about the Sunday evening before Thanksgiving? Is everyone there doing their Christmas shopping? Any suggestions of when to or not to go to DTD that week would really be appreciated.

Almost any day you can go early is better. Weekdays avoid the local crowd.

We never went on Thanksgiving Day, but my SIL got to walk-in to the Rainforest Cafe on Thanksgiving Day, it wasn't crowded at all.

From what I hear it is busy, but if you get there when they first open and don't worry they will be open you should be fine. The Sunday after might be better and anytime before Thursday would be better.

So is anytime during the day not too busy? By during the day, I mean before dinner, or is it late morning/early afternoon?

Around lunch and after it starts getting crowded. Go early, eat lunch there (Earl of Sandwich is good) and plan to leave when it gets wall-to-wall.
