DTD question

Hi! I'm i'll be in Disney in less than 3 weeks and I've just found this board thanks to a good friend! I have two boys who are 2 and 4. We were in DL last year and the monorail made a stop at DTD, is that not the case with WDW? We are renting a home off site, so we won't be staying in one of the resorts. My almost 5 year old is really looking forward to going to the Lego store. Is this going to have to be a seperate day trip or is there an easy way to get there from one of the other parks? TIA!

The Monorail at WDW does not go anywhere near DTD. The monorail loops GF, Cont, TTC, Poly and the MK. You can also take the monorail from the TTC to Epcot.

You CAN visit DTD. But you may want to drive yourself. The buses from the parks do not go to DTD.

Can't you take the monorail to GF or Poly then hop a bus to Downtown? Or is this not allowed if not staying on site. We always stay on site and we always do things like this to visit different resorts to eat etc.

What Tinx said is totally possible. You can get to DTD, either drive there, or via bus. Take monorail to TTC, then bus to DTD; or take bus/monorail from MK to resort (more choices if take bus), then hop onto another bus from that resort to DTD. Anyone is allowed to take any of the transportation Disney offers, you just have to find the best route. (if you are unsure, ask a cast member, they will be happy to help!)

Just so you know, if you are at DTD late...make sure it is only about 1 hour after MK closes otherwise a bus might not be going back that way.
