We arrive saturday evening and are thinking about hitting DTD Saturday night. Will it be busy? Are we crazy to try a Sat night? Should we just stay at the hotel and enjoy the pool? We have a van for only that nght so we wouldn't have to rely on the buses. Does it cost to park there? Any tips would be great. We wouldn't gt there til 9 or so if we go.

Forget it! It is murder in the evenings - if you want to go use the buses as there is no parking! We went one evening about 7.30 and the car parks were absolutely full, with CMs directing you round and round till you found yourself at the exit! Chill in the hotel, get unpacked and have an early night so you can hit the parks first thing! :goodvibes

haha guess i have the opposite reaction from the above poster who i noticed wentat Easter last time..we always go to dtd our first night(in off season, last time we arrived at 9 pm on a Friday in Jan. and headed str. over there to get our aps validated and make it "official") we go off season and it's not dead but not busier than any local mall imo .the parking lots were fullish but the stores weren't and i wondered if most of the cars were from PI

it was much busier SAt afternoon than evening( forgot we also went sat afternoon later in the trip to go to disney quest which was way to busy) and the shops were much busier also.

parking is free. if you are not used to driving in traffic just be warned there is i think a 4 or 6 lane rd in front of it that is fairly busy.
we find it so confusing to drive around wdw we always vow "never again", ride the bus the rest of that trip and then make the same stupid mistake the and the same vow next trip :rotfl2:

It depends on what you feel like doing, since you are picking from complete opposites. If your tired and just want to relax, stay at the hotel. If you feel like going out, getting some drinks, maybe dance a little then go to PI.

Saturday night is busy, but so is any bar or club on a Saturday night. If your staying on site you can take the bus there so you don't have to worry about parking. Just wait until you get there and see what you feel like doing.

Some stores close at 10 and others at 11:00, so if it's shopping, you will have to do it quickly. Restaurants will be open for a very late dinner or Ghiradelli's for dessert.

It is free to park and free to walk around in. We like DTD, but 9:00 pm is late to arrive.

I like your alternate plan - Hang by the pool and just relax to get ready for a great vacation.

we have only a car since our first night is offsite. We are used to traffic and have no problem with it (grew up driving in Boston so nothing really phases me) After sitting in planes all day, we really don't want to sit in the hotel too.

I didn;t realize the stores closed so early but Ghiradelli's sounds good to me. We have two Buy1Get1 coupons for sundaes so they will taste good. Thank you all. Guess we'll have to see how late we get into our hotel.
