Has anyone been to Catal Restaurant & Uva Bar at Downtown? Just found out the company Christmas party will be there this year. I've seen the restaurant before, but never tried it. So I'm just looking for any opinions.

I have heard good reviews on it. There was a review on the ALLEARS website from a recent visit, I believe it was in October.

My husband and I went to Catal with our two kids in September. Definately would not return. My scallops were awful and his steak was barely edible(I know it's a bad meal when he leaves any food on his plate!:lmao:). It could have just been an off night, but we both agreed to cross this one off our list and will not return.

I hope others will chime in and that our expericence was an isolated incident.

We have never had a bad meal here. I would say over the years since they opened we have dined there over 20 times. They have a Seared Ahi Salad at lunch time that is to die for. For dinner dining I like the Duck. MY DH and DS really like the Filet Mignon. They did a trio of Creme Brulee that was amazing. The flavors changed with the seasons. But, now they only have vanilla:mad:. I hope they bring back the trio.:tink:

Never been to Catal, but we've been to the outdoor Uva. I love it - really great pastas and salads.

We ate at Catal a couple of months ago and loved it! Food was great and so was the service. We'll definitely go back. With a company party I wonder if they would seat you in the round room at the front that overlooks Downtown Disney? That looks like it would be a really nice place to sit.

I went to Catal with DBF on our last trip in August...the food was okay - nothing to write home about. We had the seafood paella (rice was overcooked and mushy), the compressed salad and a flan dessert thing. The best part of the meal was the salad...loved the apples and candied walnuts. I also had an Italian soda...it was so watered down, it tasted like plain club soda...bleh :sad2: I think the salad is the only thing I'd go back for...if I ever decide to go back...

We gave it three chances and it never rated even close to Jazz Kitchen, Napa Rose, or Hooke's Point (our faves). Food was so-so and the service always seemed to be the worst. Anyway, the bar area is different and their menu looks better than the restaurant. I will give them this - in my opinion they have the best location of anyone in DTD!;) Have a great party there, I am sure it will be fun.

If you're planning on having a drink at UVA Bar be fore warned,it can get kinda expensive. :rolleyes1

thanks for all the feed back, like i said i've never been to Catal or Uva before. But i'm always willing to try something new and atleast give it a chance.

I have not eaten at Catal, but have been to Uva a couple times. The food was ok, we were somewhat limited in our choices as we don't eat meat (besides fish).

I will say that I enjoyed their martinis. :thumbsup2 My DBF would tell you I enjoyed them a little too much. The rest of the night at DL is somewhat blurry to me... :confused3

Uva Bar has the best garlic fries anywhere. Not really holiday party food but yummy anyway!!!! :thumbsup2
