DTD area hotels?

We will be arriving at Disney on June 18th, but will not be checking into our WDW resort until the 19th and would like to find a decent (not too expensive) hotel near DTD to stay at for a night. We will be arriving late afternoon or early evening and would like to go DTD to do a little shopping and get our AP's activated. Would appreciate any insight! Thanks!

The Raddison Inn LBV is $87.00 for that night and still has availability The Fairfield Inn is $89.00 for the same night just go to expedia.com....you'll find lots of nice choices. I have stayed at both of these in the past and they are clean and comfortable.

Doubletree club (not the suites) is very nice and clean. You can usually get good rates on expedia from there. They are located at the end of international drive. Close enough to walk, but not a walk you would want to do every day.

We enjoyed it very much.

We stayed at the Hilton last year for a few nights and enjoyed it. I don't remember how much we paid though.

I've stayed in most of the DTD hotels...the ones on Hotel Plaza Blvd. Never had a bad experience in any of them. What I would do is not book ahead. There are several to choose from, and I've never seen any, let alone all, completely full...and the rates drop dramatically the day of. Never paid more than $55 a night as a walk-in. Just a thought.

Really? I was worried if we didn't book ahead that we would have trouble getting a room in that area. My problem is that we aren't completely sure that we will make it all the way there that night and everyone that I've looked into requires a 72 hour cancellation to avoid a nights charge. Maybe we will just wing it then! Thanks for the advice and it's nice to see you on these boards too JL!

I just got back two weeks ago from the Country Inn and Suites LBV and loved it! Will definitely stay there again. Can't beat the location! The breakfast was included and was delicious ~ especially the waffles ~ fresh make-your-own! Yummy

There are SO many hotel rooms in the immediate area that it would be hard to find them all booked. I wouldn't necessarily come for a whole week's vacation without reservations, as you might end up having to move around rooms or even hotels to get all the nights covered, but for just one night it won't be a problem at all...and like I said the later it gets the more the price drops. Much better than booking a room with a 72 hr cancellation policy.

We enjoyed it very much.

I stayed there last November off of Hotwire. Not too much in the way of frills, but it was a clean, comfortable, and secure place to stay. Nice to be close to Crossroads, though it is a very busy street to cross. I did the walk to DtD several times - since I was traveling solo for a mental-health trip, it was a pleasant walk but it can be long in the hot sun.

The shared shuttle service (large bus) from the hotel is really nice and usually not full by the time it picks up. They usually play Disney Sing-along videos.

Doubletree is all about the cookies.
