I never really understood what exactly Daylight Savings Time is. I remember when I was younger it was explained to me as initially being started because the majority of the industry in the world was farming and it was a way to maximize daylight.
I grew up in rural western PA, so I've always wondered if that was really just an old wives tale. If this is the reason, why would we still do it today in an age where farming is no longer as dominant of an industry, or at least not farming as it was back then? What is the real reason? In simple terms please
