when I am going to start making Christmas cookies.

He wants to know if he could buy some from me. :rotfl2:

I told him I'll make him a plate to take home for his family when Christmas is here.

He was happy with that. It's nice to know that teenaged boys appreciate what you do.

Oh how sweet! I bet he is counting down the days too:lmao:, probably seeing them in his sleep as well. Better not let his mom find out she might get upset:rotfl::rolleyes1;)

My high school boyfriend used to come over to make Christmas cookies when we were dating. We broke up but stayed friends, and he still came over to make cookies. I went off to college...he still stopped by to wish my parents Merry Christmas even though I wasn't coming home till the 24th...and Mom sent him home with cookies. Teenaged boys love cookies, and moms who make them! ;)

:goodvibes:goodvibesSmart lady! Fellas know how wonderful it is at an early age how delightful it is to be cooked for!!! Be careful-you might be spoiling him for life!!!

Unfortunately, his mom ran off with a boyfriend and he lives with his dad. She still sees them, but not because the kids want to see her, but because the court says they have to see her. :sad1:

I'm thinking about asking him if he'd like to help me bake some cookies this year. My kids like to help me, too, but they have short attention spans and will only help with a batch or two... not the 15 or so that I make. He wants to go to culinary school, so he may decide he wants to help.

I'm sure his sisters and dad will also like the cookies when they're baked.

I think this is a great idea!

Awwwwww, that sounds like a sweet kid. I think it's nice you're going to ask him if he'd like to help. He needs a little 'mom' time this time of year!!

What a nice thing for you to do. And someday when he is a famous chef, he can thank you for taking an interest in him. Hey, you never know, it could happen.

That would be great to tell people that he once cooked in my kitchen!

OP, you should definitely ask! Everyone needs memories of baking with "mom" at the holidays. My husband's second cousin lost his parents when he was 14 and he loves to help me in the kitchen...lol...and he loves to eat!

Good for you! He can join in with everybody else, and you'll probably still have some help after the others drop out! :thumbsup2

That's so cute! What kind(s) of cookies do you make? I can hardly wait for my MIL's Christmas celebration at her house BECAUSE of her cookies. :lmao:

The old standbys are:

Ricotta Cookies
Sugar
Snickerdoodle
Anisette
Pepper
Shortbread 1/2 dipped in chocolate
Russian Teacakes
Gingersnaps
Chocolate Chip

And then I find some new ones to bake each year, though I occasionally go to the lemon poppyseed cookies because DH likes them. I end up with anywhere from 12 - 15 different types of cookies. I'll start baking this week.

Wow, that is so sad. That would explain the "attachment" to you and the cookies. They give him what he is yearning for. That is really sweet that you are reaching out to him. That is something that he will never forget as long as he lives:hug:

So, I told my DS to tell his friend that I wanted him to help me bake, if he wanted to. Instead, my DS told him that I was baking cookies this weekend and his friend said, "tell your Mom that I want to help!"

So, tomorrow we will start baking together.

I don't even know this kid but he's melting my heart! Tell him if he wants to head down to South Jersey, he can bake cookies with me too!

How about I just come over and make cookies with you guys! I'll bring the electronic cigarettes. :lmao: (okay, hopefully you don't think I'm nuts and know why I said that!)

The more the merrier! Just bring extra clothes in case the Nor'easter doesn't stay off shore.

Will you be supplying the electronic cigs or me? :rotfl:
