Uh oh! I think I see another Disney snowball rolling out of control!
Fortunately, because WDW is not as close to me as DLR is, it is not in my DSE radar yet because more work and money would have to go into planning it and that is just not a possibility for me yet. See I can avoid getting whomped with the DSE if I have never been there. Now once I actually get myself there eventually, when time and money allow, and I see all the fun hotels and all the restaurants and Animal Kingdom and Epcot and all that, I think I will be in for a serious case of DSE....especially if I were to go to WDW during the holidays (which I probably would!).
Sherry you might be surprised to find out the Animal Kingdom Lodge would be less expensive then the Poly, then you can stay longer.
DSE got totally out of control once we became DVC members, then you get the other DSE "add-on-itis", you can never have too many points!
Our Nov trip started with 7 of us and is now snowballed into 22 for the cruise portion.
You're kidding! You mean to tell me that a room at the AKL with a prime view of the animals is cheaper than a room at the Poly? How can that be? Or are you just talking about the basic AKL rooms, and not the ones where you can see animals? See I would prefer the Polynesian for the convenient location to the Monorail and for the tropical theming (I imagine that there must be lush grounds, with all kinds of flowers and fountains and koi fish and fun stuff), but I would want to see the animals at the AKL - AND I would LOVE to do that "Sunrise Safari" in the wee hours of the morning that only the AKL hotel guests can do (I think) before the Safari opens up to all the other park guests. That would be the perk of staying at the AKL.
Sherry you would love the poly! Although I am a huge grand floridian and wilderness lodge fan too! I will be staying at the AKL in a villa for the first time in dec. So excited! You all would be proud...DH asked again about adding an oct visit to DLR and I said no. Honest.
Krissy, I knew you were going to WDW this year, but for some reason I didn't realize you were staying in a villa at AKL! Oh I am so jealous! I HOPE you are going to do the Sunrise Safari! And since you will be at WDW during the holidays, try to get as many pictures as you can of the different hotels' edible holiday displays in their lobbies. I don't think every WDW hotel has an edible display, but I think Samantha Brown said in her Disney holiday special there were maybe 8 of them or something?? Can't recall exactly. But they are so cool. Now if only it wasn't so much work getting from one WDW hotel to the other!
Truthfully, when I look through my WDW books or guides (like what you get at the Travel Company in DTD), I look at each one of those WDW hotels and cannot find one in the bunch that I would NOT want to stay at!! I turn each page and look at the hotel and say, "Oooo, yep, definitely want to stay there," about each one of them!! There is not one that looks uninteresting to me!! But if I am lucky enough to make ONE big trip to WDW in my life (like say for a week and a half or more), I will have to choose the hotel wisely based on a combination of location AND money, and not so much on theming.
But for the time being, I have staved off the DSE for WDW and even for DLR so far this year. I have other things to take care of this year, so I
may skip DLR in 2009 altogether (we'll see when it gets closer to Fall).
