DS8 is lying and it's making me crazy!

From the time my kids were toddlers we always told them if they didn't tell the truth a purple dot showed up on kids foreheads that only their mommies and daddy's could see. Around here it's worked wonders and when mine really aren't lying they tell us to check for the purple dot of if they think a sibling is lying they have us check them for the dot. When mine are lying they try to cover up their foreheads somehow (look away, put on hats/hoods, or twirl their hair right above their foreheads). It's pretty silly, but it was an easy solution for us without over reacting and punishing them for something they weren't quite capable of understanding the problem doing at such a young age.

:rotfl:This is so great.:rotfl2:

Trouble is -we all lie... my kids think that one night of the year an old guy with weight issues and a white beard comes down a narrow filthy chimney into their bedroom and leaves them presents before getting drunk and eating inappropriate foods for his obesity level and somehow getting back up the chimney all nice and clean!!!!! And we then have the nerve to tell them to avoid strangers - especially those offering gifts - and we shy away from the old fat guy with the unkempt beard in the street!

But, hey ho, we just expect the truth, and give the "look" if we don't think they are being entirely truthful. Gets the truth out of ours for some reason - just like FIVE, four, three, two, ooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeee stops bad behaviour - don't know how..... never got to zero yet.... don't know what I'm going to do if I do???? :rolleyes1 B-U-T we have 2 girls aged 7 and 9..... so maybe less trouble?? Don't know??

Why didn't I read this when mine was little?:rotfl:

I have an "embellisher" - doesn't lie maliciously, but tends to throw extra details into stories to make them fetch a little more attention. Sometimes I ask "Which parts do I need to know, and which parts should you be writing down?"
