I just gotta share this, it was the funniest thing, but probably only other autism moms would appreciate it.
Santa brought a Wii to our house, and a couple of games. Justin hasn't ever been very good with the video games, he'll go play sometimes, but his fine motor isn't so hot.
Well lo and behold, Wii Sports has a boxing match. He was trying out the different sports games and tried out boxing. I had left the room and walked back in to find him, remote and nunchucks in hand, doing the full-blown autism flapping stim wild boy. He was completely stimming but it worked.
He kept getting knock-outs and advancing levels. He was just doing what he normally does, but in Wii boxing, apparantly that's what you need to do to win.
I about peed my pants laughing. My husband said it was kinda mean for me to laugh at him stimming, but really. We finally found a video game meant for kids who flap.
