DS4 (David) is having surgery soon (around 10 a.m.) Here's what led to that....................
Our family belongs to a large fitness facility (some of you may recognize the initials of "LTF"). I was working (I work nights), so I can only tell you what DW knows. She dropped DS's 6 and 4 (David) at the child-care area. Our DS's love it. They ask us to take them there every day. Anyways.... apparently, David was in the "computer" section of the child-care area and decided to go to the basketball section. Ahead of him was a "little girl" (David's words) who opened up the door from the computer area (it's one of those half-doors, if you know what I mean) and then (according to David) shut the door behind her, not seeing David.
Well, David (we refer to him as "Baby David", and you can too) now has an almost-severed finger (according to the ER nurse I spoke to, only about 25% is still attached). BTW, it is his left middle finger and it happened at the "joint" just below the finger nail (I know it's not really a "joint" at that part of the finger, but I'm so tired that I am going to call it that!). DW didn't think it was that bad, until she arrived at the hospital. After David's x-rays, DW called me at work screaming and crying. Needless to say, I left work immediately for the hospital.
I guess I am asking for prayers for his successful surgery. After seeing him last night, in such good spirits (granted he was drugged up, but not so much that he wasn't alert) and so matter-of-fact about the whole thing, I have a new hero (Baby David).
Thank goodness we have a kind supporting family. Within 45 minutes of me leaving for the hospital my mom, brother, and a cousin (she is the god-mother to each of my DS's) were at the hospital. My mom was going to keep DS6 overnight, but my cousin insisted.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I have to get ready to go to the hospital in a few minutes.
Dave
P.S.: Please do not let this become a discussion on possible law-suits. I first want my son all better. Then, I can (and will) be a beast (pun intended)!
