we leave in 7 days and DS11 flushed a dixie cup 3oz down the toilet. It is now clogged. Low water- slow drain. All bc of a spider!! I have no clue how to get it. It is beyond reach (i know yuck). DH is on a double shift and won't be home till the morning.

We had gone thru soo many plumbing/water issues this past year that i have the plumber # memorized and on first name basis with the water company!!

We have had to replace our sewer pipe out to the street last fall bc roots blocked the pipe-- actually the clay pipe at the house connection cracked. roots were in the pipes. We had soo many backups in the basement we had to dig it up. Fast forward to this winter and we lost water pressure. Water Co came out and dug up the connection-- it was a broken pipe on their side of the line :cool1::cool1: they covered all the repairs. our Dishwasher piping had to be replace once they finished bc it affected the dishwasher too.

Just soo tired of the water issues. Now to deal with this. Thank god we have an extra bathroom.

Waiting for the morning to go get a snake and see if I can free it. every thing I read on line says to remove the toilet from the floor and the trap will have the cup.

wish me luck!!

Yippee!! The toilet is flushing regular now!!! Not sure if the toilet cleaner I used broke up the Dixie cup but hopefully it fixed!!!! Real test comes tomorrow when it gets used!!!

Glad it is ok!! I feel your pain -- dds flushed several dixie cups down their bathroom toilet when they were little and we used some type of chemical unclogger to clear them out

The little bathroom style dixie cups, AFAIK, aren't made with any wax like larger drinking cups would be. As such, if they sit in the (standing) water long enough, they start to break down a bit.... takes a little while sometimes, but glad to hear it worked out ok!

I can soooo relate! My DS (now 11) once flushed a plastic toy boat down the toliet. The only problem: we never realized he did it until it started backing up and we called maintenance (we lived in an apt then). So, the poor maint. guy tries to get whatever it is and ends up cracking the toliet. oh, joy!!! So, we had to pay for the cost of the toliet because our son did something naughty. Lesson learned!

And one I will never forget.....

Glad you got yours to flush, though!

Oh good! I was going to say that those cups usually dissolve in no time.

Awesome! I'm so glad that this worked out for you!!!

More money for souvenirs at DW (vs paying the plumber). :cool1:

When my DS18 was four he flushed a plastic koolaid bottle. Had to replace the toilet because we could not get it out. DH had to break the toilet to get it out.

My kids flushed the little plastic Dixie cups a number of times and just recently a little boat. I had to pull the toilet so many times that now I keep extra wax rings to be prepared for the next time. At least I can do the whole thing quickly now.

Glad it worked out for you! My son flushed the plastic measuring cup from a Tide container, we had to replace the whole toilet!

When DS was a child he flushed Pooh--as in Winnie the Pooh (a little plastic figure from a set). DH had to take the toilet up and find Pooh in the trap.

YEAH! As I was reading this I was thinking "Oh, there's no way to get a dixie cup out". Guess I was wrong

I've been lucky of the three kiddos only 1 flushed something down the toilet. A toothbrush of all things. And I was able to remove the toilet and get it out without having to replace the toilet:cool1:

When DS was little he flushed something down the toilet. We had to call the plumber in to get it out. When he got here he asked me to get a cup and try scooping the water out. That the pressure of the water will hold the item under water. If you can remove some of the water, you relieve the pressure and sometimes the item will float back out. Which is exactly what happened! Of course we still had to pay the plumber but I have remembered that advice and haven't had to call him again
