I was so worried how he would do. He's in a different school this year. Luckily, his teacher had him in a summer program and loved him! So that was a great surprise this morning. But when I went to pick him up, we had to wait 45 minutes for the buses to come. They have to be dismissed first. By the time Ethan was dismissed, he was in tears! He was so confused as to why he couldn't leave. He didn't understand. When I saw him, I almost burst into tears! But other than that, he had a good day.

Thank God the first day is over!

Aww, congrats! Sounds like it was a great day. :goodvibes Can I ask why they have to wait for the buses to come? Seems crazy that you should have to wait for so long!

This happened with our son's first day of Kindergarten. He had to wait for almost an hour before my husband could get to him in the car-riding line. Poor guy was in tears as well. He thought my husband/his dad wasn't there yet. Poor little guy!

The good news is that those car-riding lines do improve! We're on day 10 or so now and it moves much quicker. It takes a few days to work out all the knots.

Good to know your school improved! I am hoping the kinks will even out this first week. I'm not 100% sure WHY the busses need to be let out first, but they have all the bus riders lined up in the hall and the buses (that were there) block the parents cars from getting in the main parking lot. The whole thing is horribly planned out IMO.

I am just really glad he doesn't take the bus. I know I would have been freaking out waiting for him at home!

I know for our school that the buses and the parents share the same loop, so it would be impossible to have them both leave at the same time. I guess because busses load more quickly, they get to leave first.

I understand what you're saying, though!

I'm glad our school has a separate bus and car rider loop. I park down the street and walk up to the school to get my DS. I don't want to wait through the line and I have to buckle him myself and the car rider loop doesn't allow you to get out of the car. I don't trust his carseat buckling skills LOL

Well today went so much better! They changed the dismissal routine and made two dismissal spots- one for the bus kids and one for the car kids. AND they lined up the buses where the cars used to wait and made all the cars line 5 long rows. So Ethan came out on time today and when he saw me I was greeted with a huge smile and a hug! :thumbsup2

Tiffany- I wouldn't like not being able to get out of the car. Ethan can buckle himself in, but it takes him forever sometimes! We'd be there all day.

I'm glad they worked it out. We are able to get out of the car if we park in the parking lot. If we go through the line, we have to stay in. I figure when hes much older we will do the line but until hes good at buckling up, I am gonna be parking. I wish there were an easier way
