My 2 DS's both wanted to do different sports this fall - football and soccer. For my youngest DS (4), this was his first try at soccer, and let's just say it wasn't his favorite thing. Getting him to the games was torture, and if he did go out on the field at all, it was usually just to play in the dirt. Last weekend was supposed to be the end of it all - last football game and last soccer game.

But SURPRISE! Both coaches told me we'd have make-up games this weekend. And the soccer game would be at 8:00 AM. :faint:
To make things more *ahem* interesting, a cold front blew through, and it's supposed to be in the low 50's tomorrow morning.

So this afternoon, I got a call from DS's soccer coach, who politely told me the game for tomorrow morning has been canceled. I stifled a giggle and the urge to say, "I'm sorry, were you actually thinking I would be there?!?!?!"

Bad mommy! Bad mommy! (Maybe so, but I'll be sleeping in tomorrow!:teeth: )

They cancelled it because it was in the 50's?!?! My daughter has a game today and its in the 30's! They play in anything, even the snow if the field is clear enough! 2 more weeks of this and its over until April...this was not my favorite sport to watch so I am glad its going to be over soon.

I got an email late last night to say our 9am game was cancelled today due to the heavy rain. I was not sad about it either, I have so much to do today and I was wondering how I would fit it all in, but now I don't have to worry. I know, bad mommy here too. But heck, it is only one game. We still have two more weeks to go of soccer season here.

DS's last soccer game was last weekend, and it was glorious, 50s and breezy. Good thing. Today, the snow is flying, and there are probably already 2-3" down already. Can't play soccer in the snow ;)

Can't play soccer in the snow

Actually, I just got up to check my emails in case DD's coach decided to clear the field of snow so that they could play. I kid you not, he's been known to do it.

Haven't heard anything yet but the town we're supposed to play has a notice on their website that all games are cancelled. I'm sure our coach is still trying to find a way to play.

kasar--how old is your soccer player? DS is only in U8, and they are a tad more lenient in our town with the littles. I guess it REALLY heats up when they hit U10......

Well, we finally got the call - they're rescheduling the game for next weekend - bbbbrrrr!

DD plays on a U12 team. My other DD is on a U10 team and her coach is reasonable - they don't play or practice in the rain or extreme cold. The U12 coach thinks he's coaching the Olympic team, I think.

We have 4" of snow covering our soccer fields today, so I just updated our youth soccer website with the cancellations. We started the season with a hurricane, I guess it's only appropriate to end with a snow storm. What a crazy season this has been.

Kasar, in our league, if the travel director deems the fields unplayable, then the coaches cannot play on them. They did send out a notice to referee's earlier in the week to be lenient about the uniforms. At that time, they were just calling for cold weather. We were going to allow the kids to play in jackets and just use pinney's to distinguish the teams.

Are you kidding me? There are still outdoor games in the Northeast?? Yikes!

Our last outdoor games for recreational soccer were two weeks ago. I do remember one year when it snowed in October the day of the playoffs. Last week, we started indoor soccer, so at least it's warm!

The bad thing about games getting canceled, as delighted as I am when they are, is that they need to be made up. Bleh.

Forgot to mention. DS is running in a Cross Country meet in New Hampshire tomorrow  and if they win (top 3 teams maybe??) they go on to Maine next weekend  and if they win that they go to Chicago the weekend of December 11.

I'm kind of torn about whether I want them to win or not.

We're not WIMPS!! I must say our game was cancelled too - fields under water and I straight out said yahooo to the coach. DH and I were arguing over who was going to stay and watch the game. I think we have two more weeks of soccer games. Field hockey was over last week.

Our soccer game here was canceled tommorow because we have a cold front blowing through also and it will be in the low 50's, brr! I gues you can just say us people down south are not ones to go out in much cold weather. lol

My kids had their last games of the season this morning and it was COLD for us! It was around 50 or so and we were all VERY cold. I guess that's why we live down here. My oldest has a make-up game tomorrow, but for the most part we are done and I am so glad! I was getting so sick of 6 practices and 3 games a week. I know, I'm a bad mommy too.
