Can anyone give me list of educational DS Games? MY DD8 wants a DS for Christmas. I would like her to have educational games not video games.

Unfortunately, IMO if you are looking at only buying educational games for the system I think that it will end up being somewhat of a disappointment. Especially if your DD's interest is because she's been playing other kids' systems. It is a video game system and the "best" games are not educational (Mario etc.) Again, just my opinion.

There are a variety of puzzle and brain teaser games such as the Professor Layton and Brain Age games. 8 years old is sort of right on the edge of being ready for these games. She might enjoy them or they might be too difficult.

I know we had a game Animal Genius that I believe was educational and the kids enjoyed it (you used to be able to get it fairly cheap at Costco/Sams).

There is a classic game Book Worm that is a lot of fun that I think I saw is now available for DS.

I would recommend browsing the game selection on Amazon. You might be able to narrow to more educational games and then see what sort of reviews people give them.

My kids have been borrowing my DS (to see how they might like one for Christmas) and they both enjoy the crosswords game. It has crosswords, anagrams and word searches.

I too would love some education recommendations.

My two love their Leapsters BUT are outgrowing them and one is broken after 3 years of hard use.

There are two new games that have recently come out that you might consider. One is the Scripps Spelling Bee game (they are the official company of the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.), and the other is called "Art Academy" and is a drawing game but with lessons to help you improve. Both should be fun for an 8 year old!
