Hi all, well I made a bet with my DS(8) and now it looks like I have to pay up.pirate: Now, I am on the hook for a trip to Universal Orlando. Now, I know that 7 days may not be "required" but what is a decent amount of time to spend to aleast do the headliners at least twice i.e. THe Simpsons, Spiderman, Dr Seuss, and THe WW of HP of course. We have NEVER been and just checking out the site maybe 4d/3n? We will be going during spring break.:confused3 Let me know what you veterans think. TIA

We did all of this in two full days. We stayed at the resort so got FOTL. We also had park hoppers.

We did 3 nights, with 2 half days and 2 full days, and left wanting just a bit more (but that's just b/c when we like something we LIKE it and want to do it over and over!). We did stay onsite and had those ride perks.

I think four days for a first time at Universal is perfect. You will have plenty of time to do everything you want several times.

LOL @ Princess Sleepy :lmao: well not so funny for me now:sad: He is about to finish the final 3 of the HP series. Well, DS(8) got the final 3 HP books this this past christmas and I joked these will keep you busy til summer. The next thing I knew it was "I bet I can finish these by Easter" So, Me: "O-Kay" and DS: "If I do will you take me to Uniiversal to the WW?" I shook his hand, he never forgot, and he's about 10 chapters away from completing it.:scared1: So here I am about to eat crow I mean. He has school, homework, weekly math & spelling tests, other REQUIRED reading, basketball, hip hop, and other various activities. I thought he would at least take until the end of the school year to complete them. :confused3 So that's it in a nut shell. BTW I think we're gonna do 4/3. Now did I see some one say that they have hoppers? and is this a must w/ short visit? TIA

Last year we were new to US/IoA, we stayed onsite so we could have FOTL, used our early access, had park hoppers. We accomplished all of that in 2 days. BUT, we were left wanting more. So the plan this year is to do 3 days in the parks. We'd like to slow down but still be able to do our favorites over and over and over and over.

I can easily spend 7 days at US/IOA. I find I take it at a slower pace, we tend to get up later, take breaks by the pool, etc. Its just a much more relaxing vacation than WDW. Having said that, 3 nights/4 days is plenty of time to see/do everything and do it more than once. Make sure you catch the Hollywood Horror Makeup show at US. I thinks its one of the best shows in Orlando.

My poor DD got scared in the Horror Make up show. She turned white as a sheet and said she was going to throw up, so we had to leave. I'm not sure I'll ever get to see it. :(

We had the "park to park" tickets (aka hoppers), and while we only "hopped" once, I believe, I would have a hard time NOT getting that same sort of ticket. I just like the freedom, and I'm willing to pay more for it, even if we barely use it.

We went to Universal mainly for Harry Potter, but fell in love with the whole place. So it was great to have the whole place at our disposal by way of the park to park option.

Ahh, the power of Harry Potter! That's actually kind of how we're ending up there too. No bet, but I started reading the books to my DDs this winter (they're 7 and 4) and they are both so obsessed, that I felt obligated to tack on a day before our cruise in October so we could all experience WWoHP.

Find out if there are any AP discounts on rooms during the time you plan on going. Many times, the discounted rate more than covers the difference in upgrading from a 3 or 4 day pass.

decide on a hotel on site and book now .......
spring break has the crowds.

will the entire family be doing this trip together?
you might really appreciate staying nights with 4 days in the park so you can go at a slow pace with the littles.

if you stay onsite 3 nights, you are allowed the hotel perks on your check out day.
meaning, free useage of the express lines unlimited.....

i stay for 8 days.
never enough for me.

UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! We've discussed the trip and he has decided that he can wait until early summer to take this mini trip but in the mean time i'm gonna "honor" the bet and go ahead and get the Harry Potter Diagon Alley Lego set. :lmao: As he put it and I quote "You gotta give me something mom!:cool2:" So it looks like I still have some Universal planning to do for early summer:woohoo:. Thanks so much for your input guys you:thumbsup2
