DS just missed hitting a deer

Yikes,

We have a huge deer population in our county here in SE MN! They are everywhere especially at dusk.

DS was driving home from the Twin Cities last night and pulling into our wooded area of town when a deer shot across the road in front of him just a few feet ahead of the vehicle.. Scary.

I'm happy our military son in law got here safely from Pensacola, Fl last night after a drive of 22 hours and messing with all the midwest storms on the way.

Now, my DD and him have another driving trek to Abilene, TX on Monday. They are being transferred to Dyess AFB.

The holidays can be stressful for many reasons.

Yikes is right! So glad your DS arrived safely.

I've seen two deer that were hit around here. The first was on my way to work. It wasn't a heavily wooded area, just a bunch of trees on the side of the road. Two cars had pulled over, and the poor thing was right where an exit ramp was from the road I was taking.

Another was in Williamsburg. Poor thing was just on the inside shoulder of a six-lane road. I can't believe people didn't have that one taken care of.

One morning (in the dark) on my way to work, there was one on the ramp I was on to take the highway. Just standing right smack in the middle of the ramp. I crawled along, and he took off. Saw him again another time grazing at the "green" area of the same ramp. Must have been a little one judging from his size. I keep an eye out for mom to come flying by whenever he moves.

Right there with you. We have a bunch of deer here in the Missouri bluffs. They stand in broad daylight eating in someone's lawn.

A couple of weeks ago one shot out off the bluff, right in front of a school bus. I was the third car. Missed it by a hair.

Well, last weekend my DD just barely missed (she doesn't know how) hitting two deer...Where? In Celebration, Florida.

We regularly have to dodge them backing out of our driveway!! You don't go anywhere around here without seeing several by the side of the road that have been hit. Just a couple of weeks ago a state trooper had to shoot one on the highway right in front of our house.

And they are still limiting the number that can be killed during hunting season!

I am not kidding when I say we have had 40-50 in our driveway at one time. And herds regularly cross the highway south of town. It is just nuts!

I'm glad your son is ok. There are a lot of deer around my hometown a few years ago I was driving home to see my parents and I almost hit a deer.
