Second, I had a very good friend who had Crohn's. He took very good care of himself and took various medications and vitamins to stay healthy. Then he started drinking and smoking, which the doctor said not to do, and he got so skinny, he had to go into the hospital. Eventually he had to leave school for a semester. We are not friends anymore but I saw him the other day and he's looking so much better.
So the advice that I can offer is "Listen to the doctor". He or she definitely will know what is right for your son.
