After feeling a tad guilty about going back to WDW for the third time without DS (even though we're taking the girls this time), my PILs have come to the rescue. They were originally looking after him while we were away anyway - now they've decided they are going to take him to Butlins at Minehead for a week while we are away. So my little boy will get his own holiday, which I'm sure he will love as, apparently, Bob the Builder is going to be there (it pains me to say it but Bob would win every time over Mickey and Minnie for him ;) )

My PILs are so fantastic - I will have to get them an extra special gift this time to say a big thanks. Has anyone any recommendations? I seem to remember seeing a shop that sold some really nice artwork and stuff when we went a couple of years ago. Does anyone know where this is (oops, sorry, that's 2 questions :rotfl: )

Sorry if I've missed something, but why not take him to WDW with you all - if he was there I Bob the Builder would fade into oblivion :rotfl:

Oh how lovely! He'll have a great time I'm sure. There is an art shop opposite the Christmas shop at DTD - is that where you mean? Are they in to Disney?

The holiday was booked for the four of us (me, DH and my DDs from my first marriage) partly as a treat for them after all they have been through in the last few years - and partly to allow DH and I to spend some quality time with them and build a relationship again, having not seen them for almost 3 years.

Aside from that, taking DS was never an option for us as we don't think he would fare well on the flight and we, personally, think he is too young (but don't want to get into the whole 'What is the right age' debate ;) )

Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude into your personal circumstances.

I'm inclined to agree with you about the age thing, but I know others think differently. Anyway, I'm sure his Grandparents will spoil him on their little holiday.

gilld is right. Your PIL will probably get so much out of being with their grandson for a week and being able to dote on him 100% He'll get so much attention, more that you would be able to give him at WDW if you've got your DD's there too. He'll love it!

As for the shop - there are a few "Art of Disney" stores dotted around WDW, I know there's one at the Marketplace and I think there's also one near Spaceship Earth. They sell lovely artwork and figurines, the prices are sky high for most things but I found some cheaper bits in there too.

I think the DTD one is the one I'm thinking of - we didn't go to DTD on the last trip hence why we didn't see it. I will try and get them something from there, I think. I'm not too worried about the prices as they deserve it after everything they've done for us over the last few years :)

There is an Art of Disney near Spaceship Earth at EPCOT and also one in Downtown Disney. I think they are both equally as good.

They sell some really beautiful artwork. The giclees they offer are truly incredible and would make a perfect gift (and future investment). They can do DHL shipping to England as well, but beware of that there will be customs charges (as we have found out on numerous occasions!) :flower:

:wizard:

I love the Art shop in DTD. I could spend days in here!

There are some very pricey things in here ;) but also some more reasonable things too :)

I also really like the Art shop in MGM which is at the exit of the Animator's show (sort of near to the Playhouse Disney show), and also the Epcot one. Not sure if I have ever been in one in MK??

Hang on Joh, a week in Butlins at Minehead isn't a holiday it's a punishment! :rotfl2:

I'm sure your young son will have a whale of a time though. We went there for a long weekend many years ago. Me and Tam hated most of it, the accomodation was awful, but I think it has improved a lot since then.
Our youngest daughter had her 5th birthday while we were there and she loved it. For a long time after she thought it was her best holiday ever.

That is so nice, I'm sure your DS will have a great time.

In 2000 I got a Winnie the Pooh cell from a shop in MGM. It was in the area where the Little Mermaid show is, not sure if it's still there.

I hope you have a great trip :Pinkbounc
