Just received an e-mail from Disney announcing the closure of the DS at the Cherry Hill Mall. E-mail states that the store will close on or before 2/21/10. Included in the e-mail were two coupons for 15% off. One is good online and the other is good at the Deptford Store.
I called the Cherry Hill store and spoke to the manager who confirmed that the store will close by the 21st, if not before. Sale merchandise is an additional 40% off and going fast.

Wow, that stinks! :sad1: I used to take my DS there every week when I lived in Haddon Township! Did they say why?

Not really. The manager did not want to commit to a specific reason. I know that the mall management has been raising the rents and moving tenants around since the mall has been remodeled. Several stores have left because they were unable to reach an agreement with the mall. Unfortunately, I think the DS has fallen into this group.
It is definitely not a problem with sales. The Cherry Hill store is one of their best performing stores and consistently exceeds all retail sale expectations.

I got the email too, i will miss the store, the Deptford store is just not as good as the Cherry Hill store. Maybe i will try and make a trip over there, thats if it ever stops snowing!

I got the email as well. Very sad...that store has been there for as long as I can remember. I do have to admit that I almost stopped shopping there after the remodel that took place many years ago (when it became a toy store instead of a Disney-themed store - if you know what I mean).

Truthfully, I'd LOVE to see them open one up in the Moorestown Mall, which is a more family-friendly mall.

I rec'd an email about a month ago that our store is closing too ... at Dulles Town Center ... northern Virginia. really going to miss it.:sad1:

There can't be too many Disney Stores left anymore it seems one right after another gets closed.

NO NO NO :headache:

I used to love the Disney store in the Echelon mall....it was one of the biggest Disney stores I have ever seen in the area....I will have to make a trip to the Cherry Hill store to see what they have.

That really stinks especially since the new remodel of the mall seems to have brought even more traffic/shoppers. Sad to see it go.

I heard about this one too. We no longer have any DS within driving distance to us. I think Colombia, MD might be the closest and that is under 2 hours to drive to. I havn't been to a DS in 5 years now and don't miss them at all.

Regular discount toy stores are in big trouble right now so it's no surprise that overpriced specialty stores are closing also. They were probably kept around this long as a loss leader to keep the theme parks in the minds of shoppers.

They just closed the only one left in my state. It seems more and more keep getting closed down :(

I am very sad to hear the news. I always would make a stop at CHM just to visit the store.:sad2:

Hey everyone just back from the Cherry Hill Disney Store.

Everything is 40% off the lowest ticketed price. I'm surprised at how little they have left already. They have pushed everything towards the front. They store was packed with people. If you want anything you better go sooner then later. It isn't like when the Echelan Mall one went out and they had tons of stuff left on the last days.

*sigh* No more nice manager guy calling me "Princess." :sad1:

I haven't been to Deptford Mall in at least 10 years, and I don't see myself making a special trip just for the Disney Store.

I've already had to give my kids the bad news that the McD's at DTD is closing - they were crestfallen. I haven't even told them that I heard that the Lego store there will also close.

A pp mentioned the Moorestown Mall - I was just there today and boy, there sure is plenty of open space there. I would think it would be easy to negotiate a good lease there.

I stopped in today as well. It was sad to see how empty the store was. It wasn't too crowded when I was there but people were buying bag loads of stuff. I didn't find too much. I bought a couple of Wall-E figures and two sets of UP luggage tags.
There are a lot of toys and plush animals left. Some clothing, plastic dishes, snowglobes, a few mugs, and lots of recycled bags. Everything is an additional 40% even if it is red ticketed (sale). My DH commented that he doubted anything would be left by the middle of next week.

I'm so bummed. First they closed Quakerbridge, then Freehold, now Cherry Hill. A sad, sad day.
