If you have any questions I'll try to answer them from a parent point of view. There seem to be a lot of threads about Disney World but not many for California. I know I had a questions before he left and didn't seem to find many responses.

My son is arriving at Disneyland on 1\13, I am driving with him from Missouri and flying home the next day. I have also thought about leaving for home that afternoon since he might be very busy. Any thoughts? Also, any advice on hotel near Carnegie Plaza? Also, not sure if I want to fly out of LAX or orange co that is closer? Thanks

We are on the east coast and our DS flew out the night before check in. He went alone and figured everything out on his own. Everything worked out fine and I think he liked it that way

We went out to visit him over Thanksgiving, took a ride over to see his apartment and didn't notice any hotels near there (but I wasn't looking either). It was Sunday around 6:30pm and was pretty much deserted in that area. I would certainly fly into/out of Orange County. So close and easy. DS used a shuttle service when he got there and we used a taxi since there were 4 of us at Thanksgiving.

How is the Disney Land experience different?
Do they have their own apt complex?

Yes they have their own apartment complex/building. It took us about 8-10 minutes by cab (about $8) to get there from the parks. He has a bus pass for free transportation. He said the busses are not on a really set schedule, he has waited up to 45 minutes to get to and from the parks.

Can't tell you how the experience is different, but he likes Disneyland because it is only a fraction of the amount of WDW CPers so they really get to know many of them.

It was/is a very positive experience and so glad he had the opportunity to do this.

I am an alumni of the program; I was there in Spring 2012.
Hope you don't mind me posting this here, KarenB, but I can help answer questions from the perspective of a former participant!

I just returned from DL and was told by a QSFB CM that QSFB alumni from WDW can apply to work the summer in DL. Is that true? Or should he just apply for fall adv in DL?

PS: I flew into John Wayne Airport (SNA) is was a breeze. Love the statue of the Duke w/ old glory in the lobby.

Sorry-can't help you on that one! I do love DL! We were able to go put for a quick trip over Thanksgiving (flew into John Wayne) and we had a blast! We were treated So well by DS, his roommates and all the CMs there. I would love to go back.

Not at all! I can answer the views from a parent, but not all the details from a CP. All I can say is that DS had a wonderful experience!
