DS 9 and rides

I am the single parent of a DS who is 9. He is very responsible and looks about 12. Our problem is that when we go to the parks he loves water rides. I can ride them once maybe twice but beyond that I'm done with them.

Would you let your child ride a ride by themselves? I would stay in line with him then get out when it is his turn and wait for him at the end of the ride. Am I crazy? Would this be safe to do?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

If you feel your child is fine on a ride alone I see no reason why you chouldn't wait in line with him then step out the "chicken exit". You should mention this to the loading CM as they can radio to the exiting area CM (if the areas are separate) to keep an eye out for your DS. I think they try to be very accomodating. Last trip I did not want to ride TOT, DH took DD (loves scary big rides) and DS (who does not but wanted to try it). DS was very scared before loading on the "elevator" part of the ride. DH was trying to convice him to leave thru the chicken exit with DH and let DD ride alone (she is 11) but DS inisisted on going thru the whole experience. So my DH would have done what you are talking about.

Well, that was a long winded answer for you!

I would have no problem with that. As you say, your son is responsible. The CM's can show you exactly where the riders exit so you can wait with him. Only other advice would be to arrange a meeting spot near each ride before boarding just in case you miss him coming out.
