Ok so we are taking my DS who is 6 and 46 inches in feb where we expect him to be 48 to ride the big rides. This is my and DH first trip with him and we have no clue :confused3 as to what to bring for him, if he needs a stroller, will he fit, does he walk? Any help would be greatly appreicated!! :thumbsup2

Also, we have never been in feb and wondering what is the weather like? Will we need shorts or pants? We are from NY so anytime in feb higher then 20 is nice. :thumbsup2

My son's pretty much been walking with us at theme parks since he was about 4 yo. He will be 7 this year and is now tall enough to ride anything. The only things he won't ride is roller coasters and anything that's too dark and scary. We just do a parent swap on those rides.

Make sure you have things to keep him occupied in down times. My kid loves books and electronic games. We got him a gameboy when he was 5 and it's the best thing we've ever done. They make cute games for that age. Scooby doo, jimmy neutron, I think there may even be a few Disney games.

I do recommend a break in the afternoon. Going "commando" at the parks with a 6 yr old is tough on them. They can get cranky by late afternoon.

My little seems to have a meltdown by 5 pm if we down slow it down and take a break. We take a midday break around 2 pm and either go swim at the hotel or take a short nap.

Bring Sunscreen (recommend Bullfrog)
Travel games
Water, juice boxes
books to read
Baby wipes for messes, especially after eating Mickey Bars :)
Good walking shoes with support
In February, I reccommend an extra sweatshirt or jacket
Rain poncho (I buy them 6 at a time at the dollar store)

I would bring mostly pants and sweatshirts. It can get COLD at night! I also recommend taking an afternoon break. If you can't take a break, I might consider a stroller so he doesn't tire out as fast.

My ds is 6 & my dd is 5. I would recommend renting a stroller in the parks. Eventually they get tired and they can last longer with a stroller, but they are big enough to walk everywhere else so I did not want to bring my own.

Also, my kids are tall but if he is close to the 48 inches when you go just make sure he wears sneakers. They will add an extra boost. Last year my son was right at the border, and the shoes helped. He rode everything! Rock n' Roll is the best!!!
Have fun!

We took our umbrella stroller on the plane for DD (5) that way we werent paying for one. It is alot of walking that will wear out an adult. She rode like a trooper. I explained that it was walking for miles and she needed to ride. Once she saw all the other kids her age in strollers it wasnt an issue with her. We did take afternoon breaks at the resort and that really helped too. DD would play in the pool then take a bath and rest up before we hit the parks again and ate dinner. That way I wasnt fighting a tired child a night to take a bath and the mornings we were at the parks when they opened.

We didn't take a stroller for my 5 yr old and he did great. he has by far more energy than I do. I would never tie myself down with one again. Breaks or not depend on your family. We never go back to the room but will do something like Hall of Pres. or Tom Sawyer island or ride the monorail. I would take both pants and shorts, I have never been in Feb but have been in Dec. and started the week in pants and coats freezing and ended the week at the waterpark! My Sister went in early Feb and loved it, not very crowded but the parks closed early so you may not need a break. of course if you are there over Pres. day different story.

Lat year my daughter was 5 with the stroller but she wasn't in it most of the time. This year when we go I will NOT be taking it. She did pretty good. Granted we go every year and she knows how much walking is involved.

February is definitely iffy weather month. Take a variety of clothes from t-shirts to long sleeves you can wear under a sweatshirt with jeans you just never know. It could be 70 or it could be 55. Look at 10 day when you get closer it will help slightly.

Also remember the park is probably on winter hours in February. Mk could close at 7pm and Epcot has Illuminations at 9 and MGM I believe closes at 8 or 9 I forget. Besides the early entry and late nights. It isn't like the summer when everything is open till 12am. So the kids tend to be a little less tired because of this. Most nights I had them in bed by 1o or 11 at the latest.

Have a wonderful trip!!!

WHEN WE WENT,MY DD WAS 6 AND WALKED ALL THE PARKS WITH OUT
COMPLAINING.WE STOPPED WE SHE SAID SHE WANTED A BREAK.NOW MY 4YR DS WILL BE 5YRS. WHEN WE GO IN MARCH '07 :cheer2: :woohoo: ,HE WOULD REFUSE TO GET IN A STROLLER,BECAUSE PER DS THAT 'S FOR BABIES. HE WOULD RATHER SLEEP WALK THEN GET IN A STROLLER :rotfl2:
