DS was on his way to work on Thurs about 6:30 pm, and drifted over the double yellow line, hit the back end of a car in the opposite lane, and continued across and hit a telephone pole. This bend in the road has had numerous accidents there, I think the curve sneaks up on you, and before you know it you are over the yellow lines. Since he has only had his license since Feb., he is not a very experienced driver. Thankfully he did not get hurt at all, and the other person was not injured either. DS was hysterical when he called me, and DH and I got there in a few minutes, since he was not far, only about 2 miles away or so. When we got there, he just collapsed into my arms....(Mommy..)
I just keep telling him "it's only a car.......you were very lucky". Since he will be in college in the fall, and Freshmen are not allowed to bring cars, he will wait until next summer before looking for another car. Pain in the neck for us, to now have to drive him everywhere, but, hey, I don't mind most of the time, since I know he is safe.

Glad to hear all were well, no injuries. What a scare.

Vince totaled Marie's car, about 3 months after he got his license when he was 16. I got a call from him also....'don't worry, dad, I am ok, I hit a tree......' :faint: Parameds said he was within inches, literally, of a fatality. And today, he is a FF/paramed himself.

's

How scary!!! I'm dreading those days but they do have to get the experience. I'm glad that he's OK.

Glad no one was hurt. Keep checking up with him, because I've found (from my accident and talking with friends) that you usually don't get sore until a couple days later

:grouphug: s to you. I'm glad he's okay. :goodvibes

He is fine, the police and EMT's couldn't believe he didn't hurt his left leg, since that is where the floor buckled up. He is just heartbroken about his car, but it's only a car, it's only a car. He was very fortunate not to get hurt, or hurt anyone else. A few seconds either way, and it would have been a head on collision with the guy he hit, or the one following.

I have a 17 yr old, so I can imagine what you're going through!! Thank GOD he wasn't hurt.

SO glad he's ok. Cars can be replaced--he couldn't be replaced. Better heartbroken over a car than being seriously injured or worse. :grouphug:

I'm glad everyone is okay. :grouphug:
What scary thing to have happened to him

AND NOT TO MENTION VERY MUCH ALIVE!!! Car accidents are the scariest ever.... Put your arms around him and hug him :grouphug: tightly after that horrible incident.

Yesterday, there was a fatal car accident involving teens very close to my house. The car was wrapped around a metal light pole. :sad2: :sad2:

I'm glad that your son is safe and that no one else was injured. As long as you can walk away from the accident, then everything else can be fixed. :goodvibes :goodvibes

:grouphug: As the mother of a teenage driver I know the heart in your throat feeling everytime they leave the house. So thankful to hear your son is ok, that no one was hurt and that you were able to get to him so fast. Goes to show even tho they think they are all grown up they still need their mom's :goodvibes

I know that guilt and fear he's feeling... it's not fun at all :( The fact that he is okay is all that matters right now... he and his passenger were safe, that's what he should focus on... We all make mistakes... Poor kid :(

I'm glad that your son and his passenger are okay! I am sure it was a frightening experience!

Happy Mother's Day!:flower2:

As a Mom to 2 DS's, I feel for you. My oldest DS(now almost 24)had 2 accidents - one just 10 days after getting his license. Thank goodness, he wasn't injured, but it's the most awful feeling to get that phone call! I don't think a day goes by when I don't worry about my DS's driving and they're now 21 and almost 24. I'm not sure if Mom's ever stop worrying. :confused3

My 16 year old brother did that with my parents' new car, 2 months later, I totalled the next one (at age 15........what were they thinking?), and then a year and a half later, my now 17 year old brother totalled another one (still my parents' car). My younger brother never totalled any because he said our older brother took more than his share!

So glad your son's okay.
