I had no idea that drying your hands with a fresh wash cloth would be so nice. During my past Xmas trip my family dined at 1900 Park Fare and my father and I dined at V&A's.

On the night we dine at 1900 Park Fare we were walking around the second level and going to the gift shops. I had to use the mens room. So I went into the public restroom outside of Citrico's and V&A's. After using the bathroom, I went over to wash my hands and next to the sink there was a basket of perfectly rolled up washed clothes to dry your hands with. The same basket it was in V&A's with a laundry hamper next to the wall. It is great and a nice perk.

But, what I don't like is that I stayed at the All-Star Music and there was flyer next to our sink staying that they would like you to try and use your towels more then once. But over at the GF you can dry your hands with a different wash cloth. I thought this was a little strange.

Hmmmm, interesting!!
Very intriguing post!!
Perhaps I won't feel any of that little guilt next time I chose to have fresh towels everyday at the resort.

thanks Mike!

Hey Mike :wave2: Loved ya in "Monster's Inc." :teeth:

I just want to say that reusing a towel in your own hotel room is a lot different than reusing a towel in a public restroom. In the absence of paper towels to dry your hands after using a public restroom, I don't see anything wrong with individual cloths to dry ones' hands. In fact, in the interest of good hygiene, I'd never reuse a cloth towel in a public restroom. You never know how well, or poorly, someone else washes their hands after using the toilet. Yuck. :crazy2: LOL

We've stayed at the Grand Floridian and they encourage you to reuse the towels in your room, too. It's at your own discretion, of course, just as it is at the All Stars.

Sounds like you had a great trip and ate at some wonderful restaurants, too :sunny:

in the bathroom at the Yacht Club 1st floor near the bank of elevators.....aren't they grand.......:D

Yeah, if I remember correctly, these were also available in the lobby restrooms at BC.
My dear son (who I did take into the women's restroom with me, BTW :wave2: ) didn't know what they were and said so quite loudly. "Naw, we shore don't git out much!" :o :teeth:

I don't want people to reuse the wash clothes, I just thought that WDW should not ask you to reuse your towels over again seeing that they are using a bunch of wash clothes for one time use. I can't believe that WDW believes that a person at the GF would be turned off by a hand dryer or a roll of paper towels.

That is the funniest quote I have read in a while. Way to funny. That basically describes my family.

I really fail to see the difference between washcloths in the restrooms or pool towels at the pool. Both are meant as a one-time-use. Value resorts (not sure about PC) don't supply pool towels, either.

It is like WDW is discriminating the value resort guest. I can't get wash clothes to dry my hands in the public restrooms and I have to bring my own towels done to the pool and leave them there. But, the $350 guest can use as many drying off devices they want. LOL LOL LOL

Why thank you, sir! Glad to give you a grin. :D

Mike, I think you and I are "writing over" each other here! LOL! I can't keep up!

Yes, I do think it's kind of contradictory, but whatcha gonna do??

Actually there is no discrimination at all. If you want nice cloth hand towels and pool towels provided at the pool you can pay the $350 room cost just like anyone else staying there.

Kinda like I have not seen any GPS on any value cars lately, on the deluxe versions.

The thing is though, that those people in the Deluxe Resorts don't get their sheets changed any more often than the folks in Value Resorts.
It's that whole Jiminy Cricket, think clean, recycle and conserve policy. It's great in theory, but I think they contradict themselves in practice.
WDW doesn't want to change the sheets and towels in your room in order to conserve water, but by all means visit the lobby restrooms of some resorts and grab a hand towel to dry yourself. Nooo, those don't require the same kind of water to wash....Those are small! Those are special! Those are meant to impress, so we'll just look the other way.

You've probably heard people talk about conservation. Well, conservation isn't just the business of a few people. It's a matter that concerns all of us. It's a science whose principles are written in the oldest code in the world, the laws of nature. The natural resources of our vast continent are not inexhaustible. But if we will use our riches wisely, if we will protect our wildlife and preserve our lakes and streams, these things will last us for generations to come.

Let me think? Value resort - $75.00 per night. Deluxe resort as high as $400.00 per night. Do you think you get what you pay for? I would expect new towels every day at the GF.

I like those new TURBO hand dryers they have now. I used one at Restaurantasaurus in AK and it was so cool! My hands were dry really fast. ;)

Some of those bathrooms that have washcloths also supply paper towels. So you can choose which you'd like to use. I also saw rolled washcloths in all the bathrooms at the Universal resorts.

Well, on the "conservation" issue, I think it might be a tossup which is worse (or better) for the environment, but you know, all those paper towels were once a tree or two.
At home we choose to use cloth instead of paper for nearly everything. I rarely buy paper towels. I never buy paper napkins, we use cloth. I cloth diapered too, of course! (ok, most of the time!)

...and it's interesting to hear the differences in value resorts vs. deluxe. I heard that they don't give out individual bottles of shampoo, soap, etc. at values either. Obviously, that is not a "conservation" issue, but, you know, it does keep more tiny plastic bottles out of landfills. ;)

(Hmm. I've never seen the washcloths in the public restrooms at the Polynesian, and I was just there in December.)

Oh shoot..I really do have to get out more. I thought the washcloths were to freshen up with. I have only seen them at the Beach club..so I thought it was to wash up with after being out on the beach LOL! I thought it was darn nice of them!! I never thought of drying my hands with them..I used the throwaways for that!

I almost forgot...

One funny thing that happened with the wash clothes at V&A's was that instead of people (this was the mens room) drying there hands with the wash cloth then putting it in the hamper they were putting them in the garbage.

I used the bathroom about a hour into our meal. Then a hour later my father used the bathroom and came back and told me that the maitre d' was in the bathroom pulling the wash clothes out of the garbage. I guess he did not look very pleased.

You would think somthing like this would'nt happen at such a upscale restaurant. LOL LOL

They don't discrimate. The Poly doesn't prvide towels in their public bathrooms either and neither does the WL. Why must it be a value against deluxe kind of thing when there are deluxes that don't do it either.
