Okay..I'm ashamed to say it...BUT....I have to get the back off my dryer and clean out the lint. It's been years..to say the least. My husband is incapcitated and cannot do it...and I've never done it.
Can I do this by myself? Or do I need to call a repair man. I'm so afraid that the house is going to catch fire or something. And wouldn't you know it - I can't find the instruction book that came with it.
It's an electric dryer..a Kenmore. Has anyone done this..is it hard? :confused3 TIA - barb

I think she means cleaning inside the machine itself, not just the part where you can reach with a vacuum attachment.

Most machines have a front panel that can be removed with a screwdriver. This should enable you to clean out the lint. (If you still have your owners manual, it should describe how. Or, you can probably find your manual online with a Google search.) You'll also want to detach the vent hose and clean that out as well. Again, you can detach it with common household tools, but you're probably going to need some muscle to move the dryer out far enough to do that part.

Thanks for the reminder...I need to remind my hubby to check ours out soon.

Lots of the manuels are available for down load - not sure about Kenmore, but it is worth a try.
