My husband was just watching a show where they showed all sorts of different bbqs.
He said that he wanted to try Rudys. Has anyone tried it before? I had tried seeing how much it would cost to send to me and it is alot, so just wanting to know if it was worth it, or if I should try a different dry rub from somewhere else.-And it has to be a company that is online so that I can order it.

We don't have that rub, but we do have three other rubs that we were given but will never use. If you want them I would be happy to mail the to you.

Thank you Colleen.
I will take you up on that offer.
I will pm you right now.

I wouldn't mind seeing some recipes for a rub of someone knows of any.

Sounds like a great idea

This is one of my faves:

Spice Rub
(best on pork)

¼ cup salt
¼ cup brown sugar
2 T sugar
2 T garlic powder
2 T onion powder
2 T paprika
2 T chili powder
1 T celery salt
1 T black pepper
1 t white pepper
1 t thyme

Mix ingredients
Store in air tight container (I uses a canning jar)
Rub on meat and cook

I usually use it in this recipe:

Pulled Pork Sandwiches

3 ½ T rub
32 oz warm water, more if needed
5 lb boneless pork shoulder (other cuts work too)
1 yellow onion, sliced thinly
2 ½ cups BBQ sauce (1 20 oz bottle or your favorite homemade)
Hamburger buns

Dissolve 2 T of grilling rub in water
Place pork shoulder in slow cooker
Top with onion slices and water mixture
Cook on HI for 3 hours
Turn pork over
Continue cooking for 2 hours (maybe 3)
Transfer pork to baking sheet and cover loosely with foil
Let cool for 1 hour
Shred meat, discard fat
Place meat in sauce pan
Mix in remaining grilling rub and sauce
Keep warm over LOW heat on stove
Serve on buns

nothing like a good butt rub, I always say:)

I think you all should try this one...it says it enhances:thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Well I see the rest of you beat me to it, but I was going to say that my favorite Rib Rub recipe is from the Wilderness Lodge! Oh my is that stuff good! The original recipe makes enough to do the entire pig I'm afraid. ;) I'm not always big on exact measurements so I'm including Disney's HUGE measures as well as what I've reduced it to. I can't remember it this is the amount that I used for half the summer :lmao: or what I used the last time, which was just enough. :confused3

Rib Rub
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Yield: approximately 2 lbs.

2 1/8 c Granulated Sugar
1/3 c Granulated Onion
3 Tbl Celery Salt
3¼ Tbl Iodized Salt
¾ c Paprika
2½ Tbl Chili Powder
2½ Tbl Coarse Ground Black Pepper
1½ tsp Cayenne Pepper
¾ tsp Dry Mustard
1 1/8 tsp Dry Ginger
¾ tsp Granulated Garlic
½ tsp Cumin
½ tsp Thyme
2 Tbl Whole Marjoram
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1. Combine all the dry ingredients above.
2. Rub onto Ribs before cooking.

Adjusted measures:
½ c Granulated Sugar
1½ Tbl Granulated Onion
2¼ tsp Celery Salt
2¼ tsp Iodized Salt
3 Tbl Paprika
2 tsp Chili Powder
2 tsp Coarse Ground Black Pepper
3/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1/8 tsp rounded Dry Mustard
¼ tsp Dry Ginger
1/8 tsp rounded Granulated Garlic
1/8 tsp Cumin
1/8 tsp Thyme
½ Tbl Whole Marjoram
¼ tsp Ground Cinnamon

We like this one a great deal as well, although it's given for a pork loin, not ribs. Oh - and this recipe actually came with another recipe for a Coconut Curry Sauce that's good on either pork or fish. Let me know if you'd like that.

CURED PORK LOIN
from Boma, AKL

3 1/3 lb Pork Loin
¼ lb Kosher Salt (4 Tbl)
¼ lb Sugar (8 Tbl)
½ lb Brown Sugar (7¾ Tbl)
2 Tbl Minced Herb (Thyme or Rosemary), chopped fine
2 Tbl Ginger, fresh and chopped (dry 1½ tsp)
2 Tbl Cinnamon
To taste Ground Black Pepper

In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients except the pork. Rub the mixture into the pork and let marinade overnight. Cook in the oven at 350 for one hour or until done.
