Yes, it sounds like good odds.I might have 2 or 3 drinks a year.
Odds are January will be dry.
Cheering you on as wellI'm not, per se (like the person above, I almost never do - so it'll likely be dry). But I wanted to post to cheer you (and others) on. My resolution was about getting out to take more photos (haven't really done that a lot since covid) and to deal with some heath challenges.
I can see the merit in that!I'm doing a scale it back January on my own terms. But definitely being very mindful of alcohol intake this month and I don't think that is a bad thing.
Thank you! I love a good cocktail, glass of wine, or beer! All of it! I genuinely love how it tastes. My (adult) extended family drinks. My friends all drink. There are so many occasions that call for a drink! I want to do this month dry in spite of how many of those occasions are going to pop up because I realize that (with the exception of being pregnant or nursing) I have always had alcohol on vacation, when celebrating virtually anything, and when watching football. I want to go without it to see if it really makes a difference in how much I enjoy those things.Good for you! (I mean that seriously because I know things can come across sarcastic online). If I had the month you have I would postpone for a month, but I am cheering you on! You can do this!
Yes, I definitely need the reset. It is just so easy to overdo it during the holiday season. (Food too, but that's a different thread potentially lol) I am looking forward to seeking out some good mocktails on our January Disney trip.I am!
I’ve done it before and it has extended beyond January. I feel like I overdid it a bit with all of the holiday parties, so this is a nice re-set.
I like the cans of bubbly water with a splash of cranberry juice as an alternative.
i was just talking with a friend who is new to sobriety--a little over two months. He went to an alcohol-free NYE dance, and was genuinely surprised by how much fun he had!I have always had alcohol on vacation, when celebrating virtually anything, and when watching football. I want to go without it to see if it really makes a difference in how much I enjoy those things.
Those would all be good drinking occasions to me (well except for the sports stuff, I usually have a drink in the evening before/with dinner).. Good luck!I can see the merit in that!
I've decided to do the month completely dry because I know myself well enough to know that if I start making exceptions it'll snow ball. We leave for a nine day vacation in two days, have a big family wedding later this month, and our team made the playoffs. If I make exceptions for all of that, well, why bother?
