Dry Cracked Heels

I drink a ton of water, so I'm really not getting "dry and cracked" heels. But, with age, they do dry out some, and if they are dry and happen to rub together in the night, it irritates me. So, I use the Shea It Isn't So from Bath and Body works after almost every bath. I put socks on, but they get stripped off sometime in the night.

OK - I have to bite...

My cure for cracked/rough heels is a vacation to a great beach! Walk on the sand, play in the sand...your heels and feel will look fabulous!

I get a pedicure every few weeks in the summer and every morning I slather on BBW cream after the shower. In the winter, I do the cream at night with socks.

Oh, my mom was just in the hospital and after a month in the ICU, I don't even want to tell you what her feet looked like. I did the Vaseline and socks every day and within a week they were much much better.

I am a licensed cosmetologist ,23 yrs, DO NOT use a pumice stone or foot file. Your body sees this as your feet or any area of your body being damaged and WILL create more of the callouses to protect itself. If you use a pediegg it takes off such little skin at one time your body won't think it is being damaged and won't make more callouses to protect itself. The pediegg is time consuming the first few goarounds but it will last far longer then a pumice. You see how the pumice users say they use it daily. Once you get this skin smoothed out w/a pediegg you will only have to keep it up about every three weeks. Your problem is probably do to the shoes your wearing. I always wear open back shoes so they constantly slap the bottoms of my feet so again they produce a callouses to protect my body from damage. We actually do use pedieggs in my salon too.

AmLactin XL. It's hard to find around here in stores so I have an Amazon subscription. For the first week I used it at least twice a day then put socks on. Now I just use it at night w/ socks a couple of times a week.

Also, I've found it helpful to limit the times I wear flip-flops. I don't know if the slapping on my heels made it worse or if it was just a co-incidence. Now I try to wear sandles with a few more straps to limit the slappiness.:rotfl:

Another vaseline and white socks user here, apply a thick layer of vaseline just before bedtime your feet/heels will absorb it over night, feet will look great the next morning.

This! Have been doing this for a few years and it works great!!! :woohoo:

I just wanted to say thank you for the vaseline suggestion!! Tried it last night and my feet look so much better!!!

What do you use on dry cracked heels? How long does it take to work?

Several years ago foot doctor told me NO rubber flip flops as they make cracked heels worse or start them if you did not have in the first place. i used vaseline on my feet after a shower and out on 'cotton" socks. and it took maybe 6 weeks for them to clear up. Then he said always wear cotton socks in gym shoes and for last 8 years have had no cracked heels so worked for me and my sister as well.:worship: sandals will cause this as well but if you use vaseline and then put on socks in the evening after shower it will help from happening. :cool1:

Okay, so I am currently doing the vaseline with socks treatment on myself right now for the first time...question, how do you easily remove the tons of vaseline left on your hands after slathering it on your feet? I have washed my hands 3 times and still have a layer of it on as I type.

And am I going to slip and slide all over the shower tomorrow morning and injure myself? I teach elementary school and don't think I can call in this early in the year with a 'slipped in the shower due to my greasy feet' reasoning...lol!

First of all, I personally don't use goo gobs of it. Unless your feet are severely dry you don't need inches of it on your feeties. A good layer will do, I keep a towel handy and wipe my hands off on that, or use the excess on my elbows and knees.

You will NOT slip all over the shower in the morning. The Vaseline will absorb into your feet over the course of the night. The socks are to help keep the moisture of the Vaseline contained and concentrated your feet for optimal absorption!

okay that totally sounded like a commercial :rotfl2:

I use this:
O'keefe's working hands cream
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00121UVU0

I know it says hands but I use it on my feet daily it works great. I had pretty bad heel cracks (not bleeding) and after about a week of usage I can see a lot of improvement. Now my heel looks normal. I think it works better if you put socks after you put the creme on but I can't stand putting socks on my feet at night.

I found some at Lowe's too by the gardening section.

our pediatrician recommneded solid crisco (not kidding) when my DD's feet were dry when she was little. I out it on her at night with socks and the stuff works WONDERS!!!

he said he could prescribe something but actually a lot of the ingredients were the SAME as in crisco!

I really like Mary Kay Satin Hands on my feet. The three step system. Vaseline, followed by a scrub then a thick lotion works the same,

Same here!!!

I have dry cracked heels every summer and I rarely wear sandals. This is the first time I can remember not having my heels cracking because I tried Heel-tastic. I just rub it on before bed and my feet have stayed soft and smooth this year. I am going to buy some more so I can keep it on hand.

Use any body scrub in the bath, then apply Crisco or vaseline, put on socks, and allow to soak in overnight.

Burt's Bees...I put some on my feet before bed 2 weeks ago and my heels are still soft!
