Exactly!! I've seen silk turn into rubber and linen turn into paper. It's a crap shoot. Good luck.

I had a perfectly nice wool sweater that is now a belly baring half shirt. And nobody wants to see my belly.

Most items will shrink beyond repair. I did accidently wash a pair of DH's wool dress slacks once. They didn't look too hot coming out of the dryer but I took them to the cleaners right away and they survived just fine. All my sweaters and such that I have "accidently" washed have shrunk!
