As some of you may know for the past few years we have had the outback loft. It was a unique unit but IMHO it was more a novelty and attention getter. After owning one I found out more cons than pros out of it especially the loft latching system and no a/c in the loft area. We made a trip to the Ft. back in may and I bought a portible a/c for the loft. Low and behold when we arrived back at the camper after spending the day at the pool, the portable a/c had a burning smell and we probably arrived just in time. Also it was still hot up there. I was so mad, I threw the a/c in the back of the truck and lowered the loft for the remainder of our trip.
When we got home, I stated looking at new units for the heck of it. We found the floorplan we wished someone had a few years back. We eneded up buying a 2011 FunFinder Extra 275. It's a 27ft unit with seperate toy hauler garage and a nice living quaters floor plan. The weight on the unit is only 5500# (empty) What a dream to tow over the 7500# outback. Some may say I am loosing quality going to the funfinder, but the only huge difference I see so far is the non-insulated underbelly on this one. Living in FL I preferred not to have the bottom insulated since it's easier to get to things and we don't have cold weather. We love this unit and will be making our maiden voyage to the fort the second week of August. I'll try to post some pics

You probably don't remember me, but we met when you were at the Fort in May. You had just arrived and I was intrigued by your rig. I still have picture of it. I was staying across the street in the 600 loop. I will admit that I didn't get the sense that you were in love with it, but it was pretty neat.

Your new THTT looks really cool. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I sure do remember. I thin k you were leaving the next day. Yeah, I got frustrated that night and it made me start shopping. I think we made out awsome. All and all we only lost about $1500 out of the whole trade deal. Not too shabby for owning the loft since 11/09. Maybe we'll see you again :)

While the loft concept was interesting, I was never really sure how I felt about it. I like the toy hauler much better. I wish I had the room for one in my driveway. Looks nice! It looks like there is something that slides down on those tracks on the wall - maybe a bed?

Actually this unit had the optional tri fold sofa/bed that is mounted on the happy jack system. It lowers to th about a foot or so on the floor and can be a flat bed or a back to back couch

Congratulations! That loft sure was a neat concept. In fact, at the RV show in Nashville about 18 months ago I video taped that unit to show some other people. It sure is an attention getter...sorry to hear it didn't work out as well in real life. But, you've got a great looking unit now! Have fun with it.

Time to change your avatar pic.

Herbie already likes his new home. The toy hauler door has opened a whole new world to make him bigger, stronger, and more powerful...lol

You have the best Herbie cart.:thumbsup2
