Hi everyone i am going to universal and ioa. I am afraid of drops. I hate them. Can you tell me what not to go on. thank you....nancy

You hate drops? If you adhere strictly to what has drops you may miss some of the best rides. IOA has drops on Dudley Doright, Jurassic Park, a free falling feeling on spiderman, obvious drops on Dueling Dragons and Hulk, and a mini drop on the Flying Unicorn Coaster. Jurassic's drop will catch you off guard if you've never been but it is fun, and Dudley gives you a series of mini drops before the end one.

i do go on splash mountian. I am scared of it, but i do it. Does any of these rides compare to that one and how. I just want to be ready. Thank you...nancy

Dudley and Jurassic compare very much to Splash Mountain. Dudley is the same kind of ride, and Jurassic is just a wider, bigger log with more people.

but what about the drop? is it bigger than splash mountains?

Jurassic Park River Adventure has an 85 foot drop.
Dudley Do-Right Ripsaw falls is a 75 foot drop.
Splash Mountain has a 52 1/2 foot drop.

My suggestion is to watch the ride as others go on it and decide for yourself if you think you can handle it.

thank you very much for your quick response. I am real excited and real scared at the same time.

I say just do it. If you can handle Splash Mountain, you can handle Dudley and Jurassic. Whether it is a 50 foot or 80 foot drop, its over before you know it

I probably will. I will keep that in mind. Thanks for all your help. It is making me very excited!!!!

I agree. You won't notice any difference between those three. My daughter also hates drops yet had fun on these.

Err, I wouldn't say that. Dudley's drop is a lot more intense than Splash's. It's still the most intense drop I've ever experienced due to it's steepness and head-chopper at the bottom. Not to mention there's no restraints.

Don't be too scared, Raggedy. If what you heard about Ripsaw scares you, that's okay. The final drop on Dudley still scares me, even thought I know I'm safe. I normally put my hands up on most drops, but I have not done so on Ripsaw.

You should be fine on JP. The drop is over in 3 seconds.

I always make sure I sit in the front seat, since there's less room. Instead of holding onto the handle bars, I actually hold the rubber and push my back into the seat, so I'm tense enough to not move. This works for me, but it might make it even scarier for some people. I NEVER sit in the back. The one time I rode in the back, I was sitting in it by myself, and I was leaning against the seat in front of me because I didn't want to slide forward during the drop, and when we went up the coaster hill at the bottom of the drop (another big difference between rides) I flew backwards and slammed my back into the log. The front seat is the only seat where you'll feel somewhat comfortable unless the log's packed. They didn't plan the logs well. Way too spacious.

Ummm, what rubber are you talking about? Did I ever get a good laugh out of that. :teeth:

DM, you mean that you don't hold up your wings on Dudley? ;)

nope not me. I hold on tight too. I am too scared to hold up my hands. I even have my eyes closed on rides like that one.

I've learned it is even worse if you close your eyes. The dizzy feeling isn't as bad if your eyes are open.
I have a hard time on drops too. I have made myself ride some rides over and over until I get rid of that fear.
I still haven't rode Hulk yet, we'll see how I do this weekend....:scared1:

As someone who lives in RI. I love your picture of the family Guy. We watch it every night before bed.

I am going to have to try that. Going on a couple of times in a row. Maybe that will work for me. My husband is upset , because i won't try TOT. Too Sacred!!!
