Dropping Days on an UPH

I called Disney see about advance purchase of Ultimate Park Hopper tickets and to ask if I could drop off the last day (date of check out and departure). The CRO person said that they don't do that anymore!
I had heard that you could not drop days for advance purchase, but you could do it when you got to the resort - once again, the answer was no!
Has anyone else heard this or was this rep mistaken???:smooth:

they told me ( about a month ago) to purchase the UPH at the resort and ask at that time if they could drop off a day...i hope they do it!!

A friend of mine just went thur this. CRO had all kinds of great stories. In order for her to drop the last and first days they wanted THREE reservations and would not gurantee she was in the same room. She went to WL and bought an UPH starting the day after arrival and ending the night before she departed. No problem!

CRO also told her that the resort could not do that anymore. That seemed to be news to the front desk who did it!

CRO/WDTC can't do it. Ergo their logic that it can't be done anywhere. They are not trained in resort front desk procedures and have no idea what the resort can or cannot do.

Unfortunately they should be trained to answer "I don't know" when asked resort operations questions instead of offering up incorrect information. But alas, they aren't. :(

Carol is correct about buying them at resort checkin and getting the days dropped with no problem. You will pay a little more per day but the ability to drop one or two full days will more than make up for the difference in price.

When we booked the FTP @ the AKL they dropped the last day without batting an eye. I told them we were leaving pretty early in the am and she said no problem and took it off.

I swear the CRO/DTC should get on the same page. Whenever I call and then call back I get 10 different answers to the same question. LOL

I'm guessing the are not using drill down helpdesk s/w or this wouldn't be the case. They should be able to plug in a ? and then depending on the guests response drill down to the correct response, most helpdesks have this sort of thing and it sure would save a lot of headaches and long distance calls if Disney standardized the two companies.

I thought you can choose how many days of UPH you want for up to the length of your stay. When we stayed at ASSp, I asked the front desk about the UPH and she handed me the matt that tells you about UPH, she didn't say much what my options are so I just told her I want a 2 day UPH, and she added that to my key card, I guess the reason why she didn't say anything cause I was staying there for 2 nights. If I said I want 3 days or more, she would have said something.

From my understand, I think you can drop the first and the last. I thought I read this somewhere, I could be wrong. ...Cause what if your arrival late at night and the parks are already closed and what if your flight leaves early in the morn before the park opens...then you loose 2 days worth of the UPH.

When we went to the Swan, right after checking in we purchased our tickets at the Disney ticket desk next to the concierge desk off the main lobby. We wanted them for the entire time since it was 10am and we were headed to the parks as our room wasn't ready yet, and our last day we didn't leave for the airport until 5:30pm. I just asked for 3 adults/1 child and the lady asked me if I wanted the first and last days off my ticket. Knowing this has been a hot topic I asked her if she could do that. The answer was "of course we can!". To purchase the tickets she did had to have my resort reservation so she knew how many days we were staying, yet she was willing, if we wanted, to take the first and last days off.

Someone please explain this to me--I', totally in the dark here. Why would you want to drop days--to save money? How much for dropping one day? Thanks.

If your plane arrived in the evening you wouldn't want to be paying for the first day of a UPH, especially times four or more tickets. Consequently, if you are leaving before noon on your last day, you wouldn't want to pay for that day, either. In our case, we wanted both the first and last days, since I had perfectly timed our flights to get the most out of our vacation. A UPH is good from when you check in through midnight the day you check out.

Can you drop nights if you bought the FTP? Seems like it is already so discounted they would not want you dropping any nights.

No, you cannot drop days from the Fairytale Package. But it is not just because of the discount. You cannot drop days on ANY package. When you purchase a package it is prepaid and programmed into the computer with the UPH starting on the day you arrive and the day you leave. It cannot be modified.

But if you book a room in any Disney resort and wait to buy your UPH when you arrive at check in, you can drop the first or last or both first and last days of UPH.

I hope you see the light now.

And here we have another great Disney mystery;) . When I called the ticket desk at the Dolphin ( we have to book room and tickets separately because of govt rate), I was told that the first and last day could be dropped from the UPH.

Of course you realize that if you did get someone at CRO/WDTC to do this, you dropped one of your free days so you didn't save any money. You are still paying for four days.

CRO and WDTC are on the same page on this. They should both give you the same answer to this: it can't be done. That's because they can't do it. They have no way of knowing or verifying what the resorts can do. It's not in their job description or on their computer screens. All they can suggest to you is to book separate room only reservations for the nights you don't want the UPH's. That's the only way they know of getting around it.

We arrive at 9:30 p/m and leave at 11:00 am so I booked the room only for the first and last night and the FTP for the 7 nights in between. We saved quite a bit even though on our last night we are paying more because it is Oct and no longer value season.

Now you know what it is like when you ask about re-using refillable mugs on another visit to the same resort - you get 10 different answers.
