Dropping a MNSSHP day?

We arrive on a Friday (not sure what time yet) and were considering doing MNSSHP that night. We're big Halloween fans and love dressing up to attend the parties. However, huge crowds where people are bumping into you, stores are running out of things, and you can't move about freely would be a big problem for our family. With the reports out of the first party I'm wondering if we should drop the Friday night party and go another time, maybe only once.

Here's my logic:
Our arrival date is a week from Halloween, when parties tend to be more crowded, if the first party, a Tuesday in September, is that crazy, our party will be worse. If we attend the first night and it's super crowded, we'll start the trip off feeling like it was all a mistake. Whereas if we wait and attend a Sunday night party (hopefully less crowded) we'll have a better time over all.

I'm torn because the Sunday night party would be our only chance for a party this trip. If it's really great I'll wish I could've gone twice. But if I go on Friday and have a terrible time, it will color the whole trip. :confused3

We have 2 parties scheduled and I'm very nervous after Tuesday's reports. I'm going to wait until at least next Wednesday to see how the next couple go. I've heard some reports that it was also a press night, plus a bloggers event, plus lots of people who stayed without bands. If the next couple go better, I'll be more confident about going. But if they stay a mess, I'll drop one.

This is just me, but I would go to the first party. That way if you like it and have a great time, you can still go to the second one. If the first one isn't great, you can skip the second. If you wait and go to the second one and have a great time, you might regret not going to the first one. Of course with this plan, that would mean not buying the tickets for the second one until after you're there, which means there's a chands it could sell out. Then again, if it's a sell out, you probably wouldn't want to go then anyway!

We are scheduled to go on 10/18 and 10/20. Waiting to hear more reports from the parties between now and then.

I went to the party on 10/26 - Sunday night last year and it was great! Crowds, but not crazy. We watched the first parade, we got a spot over by the Haunted Mansion/Liberty Square area. Great location!

A ton of fun, do it if you can!

First of all, you can't make a decision based off of one party that has happened. I would wait and see how the next few play out before you make any decisions. Secondly, if you are already thinking that one crowded park experience will ruin the rest of your trip, then I would suggest not going.

Normally I would say go with your original plan of two nights for just the reasons you have said. But the fiasco that was apparently Tuesday night has me also rethinking that plan. I was planning to do the 10/22 and the 10/25 parties, these would be the second and last nights of my trip. I haven't bought my party tix yet so I am going to be watching reports for the next few weeks and even then I may just buy the 10/22 ticket before I go and decide after that party what I want to do about the 2nd night. Tonight will be interesting.

We have tickets for 10/20 and 10/23. Giving Disney the benefit of the doubt and waiting for more reports to plan how to make the best of the situation.

I'd keep an eye on reports from the next parties before deciding. And really the benefit of buying tickets day of helps with regards to weather, and always thought if it was sold out I wouldn't want to be there anyway!
