Drop in Crowd Calendar

I use TGM and "THE OTHER TOURING PLAN" that we are not suppose to speak of. I just noticed on the on the crowd calendar (for UG) for June that the crowd level has been lowered by 1 number on many of the days. Don't want to get into specifics about which days and what level since this is a paid service.

Since this is my first time using these plans is it normal for the crowd calendar to change so close to the time?

Is it because of the economy? Free dinning later in the summer? Or, are the numbers just being tweaked the closer to the month it gets?

Just curious. I hope it holds to the one level lower. I will take any less crowd we can get!

That's good news, since we're going in June! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the info.

hmmm, I just checked and you're right, we are going June 7-15 and just two days ago I think there were more 9s that week, now there is just 1 and the rest are a 7 and 8s. (not giving away anything, these dates are viewable by everyone). I have seen that site RAISE their crowd estimates this close --when we went in 2005, I remember it went from 6 and 7s to 8s and 9s in the two weeks before we left. The numbers going down is MUCH better!!!:thumbsup2

There was a note on their site about a week or so ago that said they were evaluating the scales and would update them based upon their findings. :thumbsup2

If you click on the little "Crowd Blog" link on the left hand side, you'll see an explanation for some of the recent changes.

The formula is what is being tweaked, not the actual expectations of crowds. Overall, June is still the onset of summer, and it's still going to be hopping. Maybe not as hopping as July, but pretty busy.

In any event, the crowd calendar numbers aren't super-important to anyone using UG or TGM, because either service gives you some very good information for avoiding crowds even when the parks are sardine-busy.

I've been during President's Week (busy!), and times where crowds are much more moderate---following any reasonable touring plan combined with getting there when the park opens negates the worst impacts of the crowds. On the other hand, as Disney gets better at promoting slower times, there is less and less of a real "offseason". I'm increasingly of the mind that expected crowds should not dictate when I go.
