Drop fp to add again

I need to swap out a guest for someone else. If I drop a FP does it immediately show up as available so I can add it to the other guest? The person that is dropped will just get a FP for somethings else.

I've never done just a one person swap out but I have cancelled FP+ for my group and have lost some that I had just cancelled. I think it really just depends on timing but I'd say no, it's not guaranteed it will be there. If you drop a FP+ it's luck of the draw, it might get scooped up by someone else who may be searching in the system at the same time but ahead of you in cyber world. Can you secure the FP+ for them prior to dropping the other person out? I presume you're trying to get the other person an in demand FP?

Can't you pick the modify option to change the guest attached to the FP? Or did I dream that up? (I don't modify my party as it's just two of us usually, so I'm honestly not sure...)

Risky, depending on when you do it. There are thousands of guests actively using the system at any given moment. If you drop a rare Fastpass, and someone else happens to be searching that same time, it will be offered to them.

While it is being offered to them, it is taken out of general circulation and nobody else can see that Fastpass until they navigate away. (This is to reduce the chance that multiple people are offered the same FP and causing disappointment.) Once they navigate away, then the FPs they didn't pick are thrown back into availability for the next browsing guest.

This is the craziest on the actual day of usage. It's is why you may be offered a different set of selections every time you refresh your browser, including rare Fastpasses one moment, and none of the rare ones the next.

If you're doing it 50 days out or so, the risk is lower that someone else is browsing that exact day, park, and hour, but there's no guarantee you'll get it back.

Will you all be in the parks together? If so, I would consider simply switching MB's temporarily so the new guest can simply use the FP+ that is linked to the old guest. You could then schedule a FP+ that the old guest wants to the new guest's profile. Switch MBs, use the FP+ attached to ride and then switch MBs back when done riding. If you aren't all going to be in the park at the same time, you could try contacting IT, explain the situation and see if they'll assign the FP+ to your new guest.

If you haven't already fixed it, you can call Disney and have them put you through to an IT person to change the fastpass. I just did the same thing a month ago. My daughter decided she didn't want to go. I was going with both of my daughters. We decided to take my DD's friend in her place since tickets etc. were already paid for. The IT person was able to switch her friend onto all of her fast passes in place of my DD without having to re book everything.
